Appearance
The new Droid is longer and thinner than the old one. It's very large and frankly if you are used to a smaller phone that will be a big annoyance with you. Despite its size, it's surprisingly light, which is good to know. It will fit in your pocket, but if you like to wear skinny jeans with tiny pockets then this phone may become a hassle for you to transport. The screen is very crisp and nice. it has a glossy outermost layer which makes it shine like the sun. It looks nice, but I can see it being so reflective that it would make seeing your screen in the sunlight very difficult.
How it Runs
The Motorola X is fast and smooth. It runs with the Android 2.1 software, but with a special Motorola skin over it to give it a unique feel. The screen transitions are very fast--this phone runs great. The old physical keypad was replaced with an on-screen touch pad, which has become the standard for phone nowadays. One of the greatest things about this was how great the touch keyboard was. It responds just like a real keyboard, without the delay that some phone keyboards have. You can type your texts faster than ever now.
Camera
To rival other new phones with high definition cameras, the Droid X has one as well. It is a very nice camera/camcorder (8 megapixels), but the software to use it seems a little glitchy compared to the rest of the phone. Zooming and unzooming is a pain (accomplished by tapping the screen) and it is constantly readjusting to the light, so films don't really stay consistent. The camera button is also somewhat hard to push, so it can be a bit awkward to take pictures.
Overall
This phone is very exciting and nice. Motorola doesn't mess around when they are competing in the world of android smart phones. This is definitely the most powerful droid phone I have ever used, but the large size and (no doubt) price may keep some people away. I personally like the comfort of a smaller phone.

Post a CommentGood review!
Cool phone.
Me too, though I may just end up switching allegiance and going with the iPhone for my next cellular device. I don't really want the hassle of having to tell everyone my new number, though. That's how they get your loyalty--ha.
Keep the Droid reviews coming! I'm officially giving up on a Verizon iPhone and picking a Droid to replace my dinosaur phone asap (as soon as I find a version of the Droid phone that doesn't make me wish it was an iPhone!).
8 megapixels? My ancient digital camera doesn't even have that!
I wonder how the screens will react to fingertips and nails over time...seems like a cover would be necessary to protect it.
Thanks. I Have got to go shopping for Father's Day!
I think both of them are awesome :)
