Preview of USC Trojans at Washington Huskies College Football Game on 9/19/09
Huskies Will Shock the Nation If They Beat the Mighty USC Trojans
There is no doubt that the USC Trojans team is one of the very best in college football right now. After all, the team is currently ranked #3 in the AP Top 25 Poll, according to ESPN.com.
Not only is USC ranked #3, the team is just a very few points away from being ranked #2 in the country. After beating a top-ten team like the Ohio State Buckeyes, the Trojans deserved to move up to #2 but it did not happen.
USC Trojans Must Win
There is no doubt that the pressure is now on the USC Trojans to win every game of the year if they want to have a shot at the national title. The Florida Gators are almost guaranteed to be in the national title game and now it is basically left to the Trojans or maybe the Texas Longhorns to try to get the other remaining spot in the national title game.
The Trojans' freshman quarterback Matt Barkley showed a lot of poise and confidence when he led the Trojans from behind in Columbus, Ohio, against the Buckeyes. He will need to do that again and again this season.
Washington Huskies Can Compete
The Huskies played a very tough first game of the season this year when they hosted the mighty LSU Tigers. At the time of that game, LSU was ranked #11 in the nation so that was a very tough challenge for Washington. They lost the game 31-23 to LSU but they sure put up a fight to a Tigers team that could contend for a shot at the national title.
The Huskies won their next game, a 42-23 win against Idaho. The competition was a bit lower, of course, but it showed what Washington can do with their offense.
Against the USC Trojans, the Huskies need to rattle freshman quarterback Matt Barkley of USC and get him to throw some interceptions. Then the Huskies have a chance at winning.
Game Time
This game is the first 2009 conference game of the year for both the Trojans and the Huskies so you can bet that both teams want to win this game. It is a must-win for the Trojans.
The USC Trojans play at the Washington Huskies on Saturday, September 19, 2009, at 3:30pm Pacific Standard Time. Check your local ABC listings for the game time in your area.
