Prince of Persia - Fun for Kids, Lame for Die Hard Fans

The Good and the Bad of Prince of Persia by Ubisoft

THE GAME PLOT
Pince of Persia game begins with you (the Prince) going through the desert, searching for an old time friend Kara, and the donkey during a sandstorm. Finally you get to what resembles a palace or a temple and see Elika (your sidekick in the game) who is fleeing from the enemy. You then confront the two minions, learn your first moves and rescue Elika from the minions. You approach a tree and try to imprison Ahriman (the evil God) and his minions. But just as you try to lock him up the Mourning King (kinda like his right hand warrior) frees him. Then you and Elika travel the land in an attempt to heal the spots called "fertile grounds" where the Ormaz's power is concentrated. That prevents an evil Ahriman from gathering the power and becoming all powerful! There are 5 areas and each area is comprised of 4 fertile grounds. Once you heal all the grounds and defeat minibosses you acquire(Elika does) special powers to help you navigate through levels in the game. Once all 5 areas are clear Prince and Elika have to battle Arhiman, which is essentially running as fast as you can from Ahrimans hand that could crush you. Afterwards Elika gives her life to the tree so that you can seal Ahriman. The prince then destorys the tree and uses the energy to resurrect Elika, which of course frees Ahriman again. Then there is an epilogue, which you can download, (excluding PC version) which features new missions powers and final defeat of Ahriman.

GAMEPLAY
The game Prince of Persia has all the similar acrobatic moves then the previous ones with some added ones.
You are now able to perform a super long jump by clicking jump in the midair with the help of your sidekick elika who can partially fly. By the way just so you know you are still only in control of Prince, your companion Elika is completely controlled by AI, which is very nicely done. That is to say, throughout the game I have not encountered any glitches where Elika got stuck, or kept jumping into the wall, etc. For the combat you the player is able to use the sword, the gauntlet(his other hand) the acrobatic moves and magic from Elika. The interesting feature is that you can chain those together to even defeat your enemy with one attack. All the chained combos can be accessed from the start menu, reminds me of Mortal Kombat. You can also use your environment and push your enemies of buildings, which will instantly kill them.
Another interesting addition is that in this game you can not die, because if you are about to fall of a cliff or a building or if the enemy is about to finish you off, your AI friend will magically appear and save you! Thank you dear you are so kind! - Don't mention it!

Prince of Persia features an open-world exploration, much like the popular games Oblivion and Fallout 3, in a sense that you can travel to any spot in the game world at any time, and rearrange the way things are happening to your liking. The farther your progress in the game the harder it is to move through areas and the more traps are on the way but as soon as you heal the fertile ground the area becomes free of traps.
In this game traps are called "Arhiman's Corruption". The corruption is represented by black-colored blobs, swamps, debree, feathers that swallow the player or chocke him but remember before you die Elika will save your butt. The corruption is the aspect of the game that I hated the most. It looks like a lack of creativity. Makes you feel like the developers didn't have time to develop enemy characters so they just splashed some black blobs on the screen in different geometrical and chaotic shapes and named it corruption.

RECEPTION
The game was well received by most critics, scoring an 83% average if you were to take an average between popular game critique websites like IGN, GameSpot, and Metacritic although some representatives of the before mentioned firms say in the interviews that the fans need to change the heart to warm up to the games. Yes the game is full of great and stunning acrobatics, mechanics and AI but the story is weak, the gameplay repetetive and blood is non-existent

RATING
If I had to give it a rating I would give it a grade of C-
ANIMATION - A
CONTROLS/COMBAT - A
Story - D
Character Design and Variety -D
GamePlay C (Cool features but very repetetive)

SUMMARY
In summary I wanted to say that on my opinion this is a step down for UBISOFT from the previous version of "Warrior Within" and "The Two Thrones". The game is ideal for children ages up to 14. There is no gore or blood. There are no cool effect of chopping of lims or the head, or the noises. The game is full have scratched or filled with black monsters that don't really have a body and the same kind of attack. Looks like a very nice fairy tale but lacks excitement and innovation. Great animation but poor character design.

PURCHASING
You may purchase the game at any video game store like "Best Buy" online on EBAY, AMAZON, OVERSTOCK etc
or at any video exchange location. The prices range from 12.99 to 39.99.
I hope this review was helpful to all the fans of the franchise and as always leave the comments.
