Prince William (Finally) Gets Engaged

Rumors have been speculating for months that Prince William and his long time girlfriend, Kate Middleton, were set to walk down the aisle. The palace finally put the rumors to rest on Tuesday as they officially announced that the two are indeed engaged.

The pair, both 28, have been dating since their university days and have even endured long stretches apart due to the Prince's formal duties. And while girls around the world are wiping tears from their eyes, some other people are probably thinking that its about time.

In what is probably one of the best kept secrets of all time, turns out that the Prince and his soon to be bride have been engaged for a month now. Clearly, whatever tricks those Brits use to keep the media from spoiling a surprise really work!

Kate Middleton is now sporting Princess Di's engagement ring on her pretty little finger as girls around the world cry themselves to sleep. While there is still no word on a date, there is speculation that the world will see a royal wedding in the spring or summer.

The Washington Post had an interview with the royal couple, where Prince William put any concerns to rest that his soon to be wife was out to replace his mother, in fact giving Kate his mother's ring is a way of keeping the late princess around. Kate may not be trying to fill Princess Diana's shoes, but she will probably still be scrutinized just as much as the late beloved royal.

Even if Prince William is officially off the market, at least the world has a royal wedding to look forward to!
