Prince William & Prince Harry Most Candide Interview

Princes William and Harry talked about their mother's death in an exclusive interview with NBC's Matt Lauer, reports the Guardian.

In the open, exclusive interview, which will be aired in the United States on Monday on NBC's 'Today' and 'Dateline', Prince William and Prince Harry talked about the death of Princess Diana. This provided a great addition to the interview after Lauer had been asked prior to the interview not to mention Princess Diana's death. August 2007 will mark the 10-year anniversary of Diana's car crash in a Paris tunnel.

According to NBC News, Prince Harry said of his mother's death, "You know, when people think about it, they think about her death. They think about how wrong it was. The think about whatever happened...whatever happened in that tunnel, you know, no one will ever know. I'll never stop wondering about that."

In response to Prince Harry's remarks, Clarence House, a royal home in London, was quick to clarify the prince's comments for fear of feeding conspiracy theories about Diana's car crash. Representatives from Clarence House made sure to point out that Prince Harry did not mean he was wondering if his mother's death was an accident or plot to kill her, only that he always wondering if his mother's accident could have been avoided.

In support of this, Lord Stevens, from the Metropolitan Police, told the Guardian, "Of course Prince Harry and Prince William will always be thinking a lot about what happened that night and whether the accident could have been avoided. But they never doubted their mother's death was an accident."

Also in the NBC News interview, as quoted by the Guardian, Prince Harry said, "Over the last 10 years I personally feel as though she has been...she's always there. She's always been a constant reminder to both of us and everybody else...it's weird because I think when she passed away there was never that time, there was never that sort of lull. There was never that sort of peace and quiet for any of us - the fact that her face was always splattered on the paper the whole time."

Prince William was also open about his mother's death in the princes' most candid interview to date. Prince William said that each and every day his mother enters his mind at least once.

Besides the sad discussion of Princess Diana's death, Prince William and Prince Harry talked about what they would have done if they were not princes and how they just wanted to have normal lives.

Prince Harry told interview Matt Lauer of NBC News that he would love to spend all his time in Africa, "I'd, you know, like to spend all my time out there. It would be a humanitarian aspect and as well a sort of safari aspect. I would have to get a job. So it would probably be a safari guide."

Prince William revealed that he once wanted to be a policeman and that if he wasn't prince, he would love to be a helicopter pilot.

The interview will be aired next Monday and it will be the first ever TV interview the princes have done for a US TV station. NBC's Matt Lauer, at Clarence House in London, conducted the interview.
