Prince William Proposes to Kate Middleton with Princess Diana's Ring

Prince William proposed to his fiance Kate Middleton with Princess Diana's engagement ring which was given to her by Prince Charles in 1981. The happy couple have been dating for eight years after meeting at Andrews University in Scotland. Many fans of the royal family were beginning to wonder if the Prince of Wales would ever propose, some speculated that it was because Middleton was a commoner.

Prince William proposed while they were on holiday in Kenya. He said that other men would understand that it took him a while to build up the motivation to propose. He wanted his mother, Princess Diana to be part of the event, so he used her engagement ring.

The Prince has worked hard to keep his fiance out of the media spotlight because of the treatment that his mother received. His mother was killed in a car accident in Paris, France in 1997 while being chased by the papperazzi.

Kate Middleton is now the most photographed woman in England, as was Princess Diana before her. Since their relationship was exposed in 2004 while on a Swiss ski holiday, she has been followed by the media everywhere she goes.

Middleton said that she is inspired by Princess Diana and that she would have loved to have met her. She also said that the thought of becoming queen is "daunting."

Prince William is a Royal Air Force search and rescue pilot, Kate Middleton is a fashion buyer. The two will live in North Wales after their wedding in spring or summer of 2011 in London.

Middleton is the daughter of self made millionaires, who formerly worked for an airline before starting their own business. The parents of the soon to be princess are absolutely thrilled at the news and say that they have gotten to know the Prince over the years and think he is terrific for their daughter.

This is a proposal that the whole world has been waiting to hear about, but the couple did not give out details such as: did Prince William get on bended knee to propose to Kate? Hopefully it will not be long before we hear all of the details of this royal proposal.

We will hear nothing else but wedding plans in the next few months as the royal couple pick out a wedding dress, a guest list and bridesmaids and groomsmen. This will be a royal wedding that we have not seen the likes of since the wedding of Prince William's mother and father, Prince Charles and Princess Diana in 1981.
