Usually it is observed that an acid free, bright white cotton canvas is used for professional photos on canvas printers. These types of canvasses are very durable and long lasting. They provide for a better image quality and can withstand the pressure when stretched so they do not easily crack. More than often canvas prints are created using large format printers that use special pigmented ink such as Epson printers. These printers depict vibrant colors on the canvas and very high picture resolution. Staple guns are then used to stretch the prints, which are secured onto artist stretcher bars. There are very many sizes to which photos to canvas can be ordered in, for larger sizes a stretcher with crossed bars is utilized which helps averting the frame from twisting. After the canvas has undergone the stretching process, it is then mounted. Some people who want to fancy up the canvas forward it to the lamination service providers, this gives the portraits a very glossy and sleek look. Lamination also helps in water proofing the portrait and giving it a scratched resistant surface.
The phenomenon of canvassed photos has fast gripped the attention of many amateur and professional photographers. This is attributed to many reasons, one of them being that canvasses are cost efficient and more modern than traditional photo paper. Also overall they tend to be more long lasting and sturdy. Canvas prints do not curl over time and if so then this problem can easily be overcome by tapping the wedges into the frame, this tightens the print into the frame. Painters too can avail the benefits of canvassed photographs; they can create copies of their work by putting their photos/paintings on canvas. It is an efficient and inexpensive way to make copies of their work and at the same time allowing the artist to keep the original copy with them.
A very delightful aspect of converting photographs onto canvas is that it gives one the liberty to experiment with the end look of the product by allowing one to give different finishes to the product. One can either go with the white edges on the frame or one can opt to have the entire image bleed all the way around the frame. There are some companies that are providing color matching edges or mirror wrap edges editing services. Other common and popular effects that are offered are pop art or sepia. There are very many other effects. One can play with the photographs and completely personalize it to one's discretion. All one needs is a good photograph and the possibilities of what one can do with it are tremendous.
