Some parents choose to offer their children an allowance for doing their chores, some parents feel that kids should do chores without receiving money as they are contributing members of the family. I think it is up to the parent's discretion and what ever works best for each individual family is taken in account by the parents.
Regardless of the financial factor, I do think that chores are an important part of learning responsibility for a child and I also think that a child should have a chore list so that he/she can organize their chores. I know that I am pretty much not able to function without lists and post-it notes lying around my home and work. Lists and post-its organize my thoughts, I have also found from my experiences as a teacher that lists and post-its are really helpful to kids.
