There are many creepy sights to see around Halloween. But nothing combines cool with creepy as the Headless Horseman does. There is something so mysterious about a man riding a horse who has apparently lost his head, don't you think?
Most people are familiar with the Headless Horseman from the story Legend of Sleepy Hollow, but it has been a figure in many legends dating back to the middle ages.
Whether you are a Sleepy Hollow fan or just like the idea of a headless horseman, there are a couple of stencils online that will help you in carving your Halloween pumpkin of the famed figure. One of my favorite stencil designs is a Zombie Pumpkin creation called "Heads Up!".
Their Heads Up pumpkin carving pattern is an image of the headless rider in the background and a flaming pumpkin head in the foreground. This pattern is considered advanced, though, so it might be too challenging for younger or beginning carvers.
In order to download and print out the pattern, you must first become a member of Zombie Pumpkins. They offer several membership options ranging in price from two dollars to twenty dollars.
