Prison Break: A Poem

Scott Bauer
I write about life

And all of its lies and quirks

It's told to be grand

For a woman and man

But I see nothing but pain

And misgivings

They would have you believe

In their reality

Of poverty, injustice, and greed

What I hope is to open some eyes

To a life that supersedes

For I cannot go on

Complacent and bound

By the invisible chains of this life

So I must break out

Of this steel cell of society

In which I have been in since my youth

And I shall use the only tool I have

As rather small file called the truth
