Prison : a Haiku Quintet

The Good Ones Are Bad and the Bad Ones Are Worse

David A. Reinstein, LCSW
The best jail is dark
And the nicest guard is tough.
Paradise, it's not.

There's no mystery.
The plea was for one more chance
To try to do right.

Felons wondering,
Who is it that matters less?
It's Miss Demeanor!

Endless asking flows.
Questions bouncing 'round the bars-
Answers come up short.

Lousy place to be.
Everyone is innocent.
It's all a mistake.

You have such a way with haiku. Nicely expressed.

I like this alot! Unfortunately, I know many people who had to do time behind those bars, and anyone will tell you, it is an ugly, lonely place!

Two thoughts - prisons of another sort came to mind, but also having taught GED classes in jail, how true your statement that everyone in jail is innocent. I guess the same applies to the prison's of our lives. It's hard to admit we are at fault.
