For many obese adults, there is an older weight loss program that is coming back into mainstream media attention. Known as the Pritikin Diet, Americans are learning to satisfy their fat instincts and manage weight loss through a new approach to eating healthy fruits and vegetables, lean means and avoiding complex carbohydrates and high fat foods, while focusing on fiber rich foods. While this may seem simple, most other diet programs encourage the consumption of high carbohydrates.
Using a Pritikin Eating Plan, coupled with management of the five principles to a healthy lifestyle, obese adults are moving away from other health and weight loss programs and focusing on the "Better, Better Still, and Best" food menu.
In terms of the five fundamental principles, they are quite simple. Exercise is essential to the weight loss success as is following the carbohydrate and fat recommendations on the meal plan. In addition, regular and consistent eating of small meals is important and sticking with the program is suggested as the ultimate way in which to lose the weight and keep it off.
As a fiber rich dietary program, the Pritikin Diet is a weight loss program that works with your fat instinct to trick it into thinking it has been satisfied. By eating calorie rich, but low fat foods, eating regularly and frequently, maintaining balance blood glucose levels and boosting metabolism with exercise, your fat instinct is kept at bay and, ultimately, will provide you with the weight loss you are looking for.
As with any weight loss program, it is important to seek the advice of a health care professional before beginning exercise. Low carb diets, diets that encourage limited food intake and diets that require specialized foods and supplements, are difficult to comply with. If you are searching for a diet that is more in tune with your body's primitive and natural instincts for food consumption, consider the Pritikin Diet as not only a way in which to lose weight but also to develop a healthy eating pattern for life.
