Private Selection Thin Crust BBQ Flavored Chicken Pizza Consumer Review

Pizza or Snack?

Private Selection Thin Crust BBQ Flavored Chicken Pizza seemed like a steal in the grocery store, and since my family loves pizza, I bought one for supper. It came with white chicken, white cheddar and roasted red onions. I knew the Private Selection name from the Kroger deli and knew it was a quality brand. I hoped it was as good as the other Private Selection products.

Upon taking the Private Selection Thin Crust BBQ Flavored Chicken Pizza out of the box, I was able to see what I had bought. The thin crust was indeed thin, thin as a saltine cracker. The cheese was sparse. The chicken was in bite size chunks and spread randomly on top. I was so disappointed with the small amount of cheese that I added some of my own before cooking. The red onion was also a little on the sparse side. Not at all what I had expected from Private Selection brand.

After looking at the pizza I had to look at the box picture. The picture on the box is loaded with toppings. For instance the slice on the picture has eight pieces of chicken. My slices had an average of three. I do realize that the picture is always better than the actual product, but this is just plain lying. The lie is so bad that the company should be fined!

The pizza baked quicker than the instructions called for. Luckily we had three people watching it cook. When I placed the finished pizza on a cutting board and cut it with a pizza cutter, I felt that I was cutting through a cracker. The toppings did not interfere or move since they was sparse.

When we actually started eating the pizza is when we was surprised the most. I and my family expected BBQ flavored chicken on the pizza -Not- BBQ sauce instead of tomato pizza sauce. The BBQ sauce wasn't bad, just unexpected. My son described it as a sweet tasting pizza. However, my husband told me not to get that pizza again unless it was to be a late night snack. The reason being that the pizza was not filling.

Personally I would not recommend this pizza for a family meal. It is not filling enough unless you eat a large amount of pizza. I would not recommend this pizza for family snacking. The taste isn't bad. It is just that the quantity of the toppings was unbelievable.

I bought the Private Selection Thin Crust BBQ Flavored Chicken Pizza at Krogers for just under four dollars. I think it was a sale price but I am not sure.
