Probity

Bud Young

A loving leader

With outstretched arms

Full of kind words

Couldn't possibly cause harm

Are you the same

Behind the scenes

With the cameras turned off

Is there a different scheme

Immense public gestures

Of international charity

Are you truly genuine

Or lacking integrity

Do you have future plans

Of doing something grand

In your late hour

Do you dream of greater power

Why make such grand statement

Public prayers so fervent

Do you have the probity

Praying with true ability

Are you just a clanging cymbal

A noisome bother to a loving soul

Is the love you proclaim just a symbol

Is spiritual probity an important goal

    Yeshuan,
This poem gets right to the point and its one well worth making. It captures the uncertainty I always feel when confronted with a leader. We so want them to be genuine and true and so often we're duped. This happened over here with Tony Blair. He inspired such hope at first and just turned out to have feet of clay. Keep writing poems like this, we need to raise people's consciousness!
Thanks for your comment on my poem, it was most welcome.

Hypocracy is the worst....bravo!...It is amazing how people can wear two masks. Please check out my cp page...I have written a very strong poem called "Hypocrites, I say!" about religious hypocracy and intolerance that I think mirrors much of what you have said here...keep up the writing...I think that you have quite a bit of talent.
