I bought my computer when it was installed with Windows 2002 Service Pack 2 Operating System (OS). My computer was performing tasks quickly and reliably, until it was infected by a virus that led to lose of all my files and other programs that I had installed. It was then that I decided to go for the 2006 version of the same OS and it is this OS I am currently using, just because I don't have a better OS available (though I have been considering the options of either going back to the OS I bought my computer with or try out on another such as Linux or Macintosh).
The reason as to why I am bored up with the 2006 version is because it allows deletion of crucial files it uses during start up. Not more than once have I mistakenly deleted files that have ugly appearance in the local drive (drive C) hard disk in the partition where it is installed and others that automatically set themselves up in other partitions of the same hard disk. After deleting these files, rebooting the computer becomes impossible and you have to install the OS again, and if I had no proper back up for my files, I could have lost very important information repeatedly.
Another serious problem with this version of Windows 2002 is its inability to automatically hide the administrator's account used by the system. Any user of Windows (from Windows 2000 and above) knows that Windows enables security for administrator and allows password protection. But this version of Windows, though it prompts you to set up the administrator password during installation, and if bypassed it still gives you the option of setting the password from the user accounts in the control panel, the password is not recognized by the OS during start up of Windows. Not only does this OS bypass the administrator's password but also logs in the administrator by default every boot time. This compounds the problems of allowing unauthorized persons to access your system in your absence. It beats the logics of it being generally known as advanced security OS.
Though this OS came with admirable features, containing in itself other programs such as Mozilla for Web surfing, Java and other network programs, availability of most drivers used by most people such as the sound drivers, some HP printers and similar devices, I have come to hate it and recommend that those who are intending to use Windows as an OS, and have found out that other versions of Windows are formidable, to either wait for the launch of the long awaited Vista or go for other OS that are said to better than Windows such as Linux or Macintosh.
And briefly, I have realized that there is no much difference in using Linux to Windows NT. Linux as Windows NT lack the important sleek look provided by the Windows XP, and is as slow in executing some programs. Therefore, apart from the security promised by this OS, there are no any other added advantages to venturing into Linux though offering better security that no known Windows OS can reach to. It would be well to add that the boot time taken by Windows XP is faster than that taken by Linux on the same machine, but Linux will offer better file protection and management for the hard disk and other storage devices storage characteristics.
Well, the aim of this article was to warn the user of any personal computer not to venture of the Windows XP 2002 modified in 2006 due to the mentioned reasons, and to encourage those who are diverting to other operating systems to do so and know that all is not well though. Have a good computing system.

- Windows XP 2002 service pack 2 came as a security solution
- The Windows has failed in two main areas-file management and overlooking the admin priveleges
- Opting for Linux or Macintosh may not be a bad idea after all
