Procrastination: The Time Killer

Procrastination

Kurt Evans
Procrastination, is the time killer. We all procrastinate; it's part of the human condition.

Do It Later

When we don't want to do something that we know we have to do, we often put it off and say that we'll do it later. Then, it comes as no surprise, when later comes, and the thing that we were putting off; still isn't done.

Just Do It

We could avoid a lot of pain and mental anguish by adopting Nike's slogan of," Just Do It." If we just did the task and got it done, then there would be nothing for us to complain about and we could live a much happier life.

Not Doing It

It seems that by not doing it, whatever it may be, we are just prolonging our mental torture and this will eventually cause us physical pain; as in high blood pressure, heart problems, and depression.

Why

Here in lies the question; why do we torture ourselves with procrastination?

Procrastination Is Torture

Procrastination is torture for our minds and wreaks havoc on our lives. Nothing is worse than having a severe bout of procrastination when you can't get anything done because you keep on putting everything off.

Bouts Of Procrastination

Bouts of procrastination can strike at any time. Sometimes, the bouts of procrastination are brought on by sheer laziness. At other times, procrastination is brought on by fear; fear of change, fear of failure, fear-of success.

Time Spent Procrastinating

Time can be spent procrastinating by weighing the pros and cons of taking an action as we try to decide what direction to take. This can take a few minutes, a few hours, a few days, or a few years; depending upon the intensity of our obsession.

The Longer We Procrastinate

The longer we procrastinate, the worse our anxiety gets. The stress from procrastinating can cause a world full of problems. For example, if we put off seeing the doctor long enough, the symptoms of an illness can, and will, kill us. And, that's a fact.

Do It Now

One way, to get past procrastination; is to adopt the attitude of, Do It Now. If, when we are pressed with an issue that needs to be taken care of, and we take care of it right now, then we are free to do other things later; with a clear conscience.

The Value Of Having A Clear Conscience

There's a lot of value in having a clear conscience. When you deal with your bouts of procrastination in life effectively and do things, as they are required to be done, you can have a much more successful and happier life.

Procrastination

Remember, procrastination, is the time killer; don't let it kill yours.
