Product Review: Abita Root Beer

Bridget Ilene Delaney
Description of the Product: Abita Root Beer comes in bottles. The bottles have the Abita logo on the front and underneath it says that it root beer. A ribbon on top of the logo says "Brewed at the Abita Berwery." Of course, the contents are given on the label.

What the Product Promises: The product promises that the Root Beer is made with pure Louisiana Cane Sugar. This is located on the front of the bottle. On the back of the bottle, it says "No additive or preservatives."

What the Product Offers: The product offers what it promises. The product is root beer. It is brewed with Pure Louisiana Cane Sugar. There are no additives or preservatives. The ingredients in this root beer are carbonated water, cane sugar, caramel color, root beer flavor, and phosphoric acid. Phosphoric acid is not a preservative. It is an ingredient used to acidify the root beer to give it a decent root beer taste.

A serving size is one 12 fluid ounce bottle.

Is It Worth It?: The price of one bottle of Abita Root Beer tends to be between $1.50 and $3.00 depending on the retailer. This price is worth the great tasting root beer with no preservatives. Many people in Louisiana have considered it to be the best root beer for years. It was always difficult to find unless the Louisiana city was located near Abita Springs, LA. This meant places like Baton Rouge, New Orleans, and Metairie usually had Abita Root Beer, but further places usually did not have it.

However, with new technology and the ability to keep the root beer fresh, it is being found further and can even be order online from The Soda, Shop, Soda Pop Stop, Beverages Direct, and The Find.

More Information:

The Abita Brewery also brews beers. There are regular beers and lots of other varieties of beer. One of the most interesting varieties to people is "Purple Haze." This beer has raspberry puree added after brewing to give it a unique flavor and purple color.

Sounds good. I love root beer. I use to live in LA and my neighbor was a farmer that grew sugar cane. He always gave me some to chew on and he had a machine that made molasses. Good stuff.
