The bar is 3.5 ounces (99.2 grams) and there are 3 servings per bar. Each serving has 150 calories, 7 grams of fat, 4 grams of saturated fat, 0 grams of trans fat, 0 mg of cholesterol, 10 mg of Sodium (0% of the RDA), 22 grams of carbohydrates, 2 grams of fiber, 18 grams of sugar, and 2 grams of protein. Each serving also contains 110 mg of antioxidants. The chocolate doesn't have nuts in it but it's made on equipment that processes nuts, so it's not allergy-free.
The chocolate is sealed in gold foil inside its dark, elegant wrapper. The chocolate is beautiful to look at and the chocolate glistens dramatically; it almost looks as if it's still partially melted. Indeed, as I broke off a scored block it immediately melted a little bit onto my fingers. I didn't mind because I could tell that it was going to have an extremely creamy and luxurious texture. I was right.
The dark chocolate was heavenly and not too sweet. The mint contrasted coolly and crisply with the darkly rich chocolate. There was just enough of the mint crème in the center to give you the sharp, clean flavor of peppermint without overwhelming the chocolate. It was definitely a perfect marriage of flavor, texture and richness.
After Eights are made by Nestlé's European chocolate division. Aside from the bars they also make the After Eight Thin Mints, Delights and Biscuits. The Delights are small rounds of chocolates with a mint cream filling. In England biscuits are what we Americans call cookies.
I believe that the After Eight Dark Chocolate with Mint Crème Filling is one of the best chocolates I've ever eaten. It may be that I'm partial to chocolate mint flavors, but that's not the whole reason. This bar of chocolate not only tastes rich and luxurious, and combines two classic flavors perfectly, but it also looks as good as it tastes. I highly recommend it to chocolate lovers and I know I'll be buying this particular brand often; probably too often!
