Price
When shopping for a new phone one of the most important things I look for is a good price. Not too cheap, not too expensive. I am a firm believer that you get what you pay for, so the free phones and 1 dollar phones weren't going to do it for me. I was drawn to the Alltel Hue because of its sale price which was only $39.99 after $140.00 instant savings and $50.00 mail in rebate. The phone with tax cost us just over $90.00 with tax and retails for $229.00 out right. I was able to purchase a moderately priced phone for very cheap, which is a big selling point to me.
Features
The phone has many great features which was another main reason I was drawn to it. Some of the features the Alltel Hue has to offer are:
-Changeable Face Plates
-Camera
-Video
-GPS Capabilities
-Bluetooth Enabled
-Expandable Memory Slot
-MP3 with Jump Music Capabilities
-Celltop
Having Changeable Face Plates is completely awesome! The face plates cover the entire back of the phone and the front on two sides. I like this because I can change the color of my phone as often as I like. It's like getting a new phone every day if I wanted. And if the faceplate's get scratched I can simply put on a new one and the phone will look good as new! You cannot tell that the face plates are replaceable as they contour to the phone perfectly. The phone comes with a red face plate and blue face plate. All other colors have to be purchased seperate.
In todays world Camera and Video are a must! From the terrorist attack on London to Kramer's crazy racial outburst, all of these and many others were caught on cell phone video cameras. Having this media in your phone could be very entertaining and who knows, may even pay off one day!
Bluetooth and GPS capabilities are becoming pretty standard now-a-days, however some newer phones still do not have these advancements. The Alltel Hue comes Bluetooth enabled and has the capability to provide a GPS service for an extra monthly cost.
Along with an expandable memory slot comes an MP3 player. There aren't that many phones that are under $229.00 that offer an MP3 player, the Alltel Hue does. For $229.00 you get all of these great features! And if you are in good standing you could get it for $39.99 like I did. I hate to sound like a sales woman here but this is a really great deal!
Alltel has come up with a neat way for you to access all the important information you would need to know and have it available to you with one push of a button. They call it "Celltop", Cell top comes preloaded in the Alltel Hue and has all kinds of features from Messaging and Email to Sports and Weather. Celltop puts the things you need to know right at your fingertips. The only cost to use Celltop is airtime minutes or you could purchase an unlimited Celltop plan for $10.00 a month.
Standard Features
The Alltel Hue comes with standard features such as:
-Calendar
-Memo
-Tip Calculator
-Calculator
-World Clock
-Stop Watch
-Alarm Clock
One standard feature that I like is that you can change the dialing font and size on your phone. You can also change the style and color of your display icons. My favorite by far is the external display. The external display is bright red but when it's fully charged it will let you know by turning bright green.
Accessories
Some accessories offered for the Alltel Hue are:
-3 pack changeable face plates in yellow, pink and green for $39.99
-Jump Music Pack with USB cable, Mircordisc and headphones for downloading music onto your phone. $79.99
-A multitude of different headsets from different brands ranging from $99-$200.
Summary
If you couldn't already tell I would definitely recommend this phone. It has so many great features and even at it's full retail price of $229.00 it more than pays for it's self in the long run. For more information on the Alltel Hue click here.

Post a CommentWe have 2 Alltel Hues -- business use is constant. Good reception%2C seems sturdy%2C camera and video great feature%2C but does not accept micro memory cards from Patriot%2C or anyone but Sandisk it seems -- bummer
I bought two of these Hues, 6 months ago. For the first couple of months, the phones worked great. Now I am having problems with both. Both phones seem to be dying in the exact same pattern. The first problems we noticed was that the external screens would stop displaying any information, except for the symbols. The phones then started to heat up rapidly while we were using them. Im not talking warm, I mean it got to the point where you had to get of the phone before it melted to your face type of heat. Then came the constant need to recharge the battery. We would be lucky if these phones held a charge for more than 30 mins while in use. Im sad to say that the first of the two phones actually died today. Just pluging the phone into the charger caused this phone to overheat within seconds. We tried a differnt battery and different charger and still no luck, so we know it is the phone itself that is causing the problem. I will be taking them both back to Alltel tomorrow to get fixed or
It's a decent phone overall. Small and attractive. Very sturdy, I drop it often and I feel awful, but I know the minute I grab it again, it'll be in good shape. I find the battery is perfectly fine if you don't over charge. While on a long phone call though, it drains rather quickly. Features are easily used. Memory space is decent. There are many helpful tools on this phone, though there are no games unless you download them and buy them. I'm pleased with the sound quality on the phone for calls. I suggest you don't overload this tiny phone with a whole bunch of extras. It's best used as a basic cell phone and not as blue tooth or mp3 player.
A few complaints that I have found, it will shut off randomly when I am in the middle of a text, which makes me loose what I had been texting. I find texting a huge pain on this phone. The t9 feature won't remember the words you add to its dictionary if you turn it off. I'm just overall not a fan of the texting. You may not use sounds that y
I purchased the Hue the beginning of June. From day 1, I have had problems with it-doesn't hold a charge is my biggest concern. I could charge it daily and still have it die in the middle of a call. The store tried numerous updates, and ended up trading it several weeks later. The new one is better, but is still not worth the money. I still charge is several times a week, and now, I often miss calls because it has decided not to ring every time I get a call. It'll beap when the voicemail gets left, but not when the call comes in. I am so discusted with the phone and the service that Alltel has provided with it, that I'm tempted to pay the termination fee to getout of the contract. I wouldn't recomment this phone to my worst enemy.
I'd like to add that my phone was submerged in the bath tub while bathing my two year old. I thought for sure it was a done. But after taking out the battery drying with a paper towel and allowing it to dry while off for a day it came right back like brand new. You would never even know that it had been dumped in bath water.
I have had the Alltel Hue for 16 days today(June 28, 2008) and I am completely pleased with it. The only thing I find burdensome, is the way calls connect in stores such as Wal-Mart, you heard a distorted ringer. It has great texting as well.
if it can text pretty well it may be the perfect phone for me donka
I have had it for over 6 months now and I can charge it twice a week and it's fine. I don't talk on it a whole bunch but to me it goes a long time imbetween charges. My old phone had to be charged daily or it would die. Hope this helps!
I am concerned about talk time and how long does it hold a charge?
Great review. You may just have me sold. :-)
