Smart Shade Foundation is available in three shades. No, that isn't a typo. Three (3) shades are the only choices. Light, Light/Medium and Medium are the options with this makeup. The foundation is in a lotion style 1 ounce container.
A trial of the light/medium shade proved rewarding and justified the almost $10.00 price. The makeup's smooth texture made application easy. Almost too easy. Almay warns that the microscopic skin beads (tiny dots in the foundation) must be thoroughly blended for optimal results.
Smart Shade foundation feels great during application. It goes on smooth and feels more like a hydrating treat than a covering foundation. Perhaps that's the affect of the nourishing antioxidants, like grapeseed, ginseng and ginkgo biloba. In addition to antioxidants, Sun Shade has a sun protection factor of 15.
Eureka! It worked! No more trying shade after shade only to get home, look in the mirror and realize the choice of shade was obviously not the right one. True to Almay's Smart Shade claim, the result was natural. While the makeup felt sheer and light to wear, it did even skin tone, including splotches.
This foundation goes on almost too easily. I'm almost afraid to see how long 1 ounce is going to last. One application is good for all day. After applying Smart Shade makeup at 7:30 AM, it still looked and felt good at 5 PM.
Smart Shade can be found wherever Almay cosmetics are sold. The price of Smart Shade varies. Local drug stores have priced it higher than the usual discount store.
The twist tube container makes tossing the foundation into makeup bag or purse easy. No glass to shatter. No fear of makeup leaking out and ruining items in the bag.
Almay's Smart Shade Foundation does exactly what Almay claims it will. It provides sheer feeling, natural looking, even coverage. The price is even reasonable.
Smart Shade Foundation is a welcome addition to the makeup family. It's also a very welcome change from the old way of choosing foundation. No more trial and error processes with testers and color quizzes and going through shade after shade. No more dabbing foundation on wrists and hands under department store lighting. Just the feel of a pleasant facial every morning when you put it on.

Post a CommentI have been using this for a while and been happy with it. Unfortunately, the black specks have now turned into black streaks and I cannot use the rest of the tube.
i found it very interesting to put on.it feels and looks like a lotion.you can not tell i have any foundation on at all.i have an uneven skin tone and it did balance that out.it does not make my face feel oily or look like i have a thick coat on like others have.worked fine for me.
i love your nearly naked pad make-up beidge . why the stories nor drug stores carry it%25253F i need it. not happy with other brands.this is the nearly naked foundation. where can i get it%25253F my email is perrylouann%252540att.net thanks
@Lori, Melissa and others. Foundation should just be used to even out your tones, it's not called "cover up" it's called foundation or some call it base. If you want a cover up, something to hide imperfections, you need to get the concealer also, which "concels" or hides or covers up. That's what I love about this make up, I don't cover up my entire face to even out my tone. I use the concealer on any zits I may have and under my eye and on my eyelids, then I use the foundation all over my face and eye lids. It evens out my red blotches on my light skin color.
I wanted to comment on your smart shade foundation. I would not recommend it to anyone that doesn't have perfectly clear skin. It definitely does what it says, it adjusts to your skin shade and when you have dark spots or brown patches, it adjusts to that and does not cover it, it actually emphasizes it. So I ended up with my skin looking the same, clear areas with dark areas where my brown patches are. I tried this in hopes of finding an easier way with foundation but this didn't do it. I went back to my other one and have a smoother, more even look.
Dear Almay
Just had to write you to tell you what a fabulous product you have here with smart shade. I picked it up at a drug store to try something more reasonably priced than the este " Lauder products Ive been using. I thought Ide never find a product so good for my skin if I didnt pay a bundle for it. Im 47 years old and my skin care has always been important to me. This product helps me look very good for my age. I actually wear just moisturizer and a little make up alll day. But I cant wait to go out and put on your smart shade. Thank you you help me look fabulous.
I did not care for this product.... I have to admit it did match to my skin-tone (which is fair).....BUT.....it didn't cover anything, and if I'm not mistaken the whole point in cover-up is to cover-up???!!! I am still in the store walking the aisles like a lost child trying desperately to find a good foundation....So far the only one I really like is MAC....THE downfall, kinda expensive.
I recently bought your product about 4 months ago and loved it until yesterday. After applying my smart shade make-up it turned real dark as soon as it touched my skin and wound not blend. I removed most of it with a tissue and the tissue turned darker yet. What make it suddenly quit working ? Jannetta Owen address; 3134 Belmont Parsons, Ks 67357
I just bought this product, and their perfect Shade Blush - Wow! I was impressed. it went on smooth, and blended nicely. No more ugly lines or glaring blush- It looked natural & felt really wonderful.
I was glad i tried it
Good article! When I first saw an ad for this in a magazine I thought wow, how cool! I was gonna go out and buy it but again it only comes in 3 shades and they pretty much left women of color out as so many companies do. So they lost a customer, I'm just thankful that a lot of other cosmetics companies are taking all of the brown women of the world into consideration. I'm glad this worked for you though, it's so hard to find a good foundation.
