First of all, this American Beauty facial cleanser is supposed to be gentle enough for use on even sensitive skin. This was an important aspect for me, because my skin is sensitive. I was pleased to find that this coconut based cleanser does clean my skin without leaving it dry or tight.
The cleanser also did not bother my eyes, which is nice because I usually wear contacts. The product is oil free as well. This is another nice feature because I have an oily "T zone", and products that aren't oil free sometimes accentuate that fact.
Additionally, the packaging states this American Beauty cleanser is non-acnegenic (won't cause acne). If you've ever tried something that made your skin break out, you know how important this factor can be. I have had that experience with other products, but not with this one.
The American Beauty Luxurious Lather Creamy Cleanser has a little bit of caffeine in it. Caffeine is supposed to "wake up" the skin, but I didn't notice this effect at all. Since this wasn't really something I was looking for in a facial cleanser, I wasn't disappointed.
The lather of this facial cleanser is nice. There is enough of a lather to feel like you're using something, but the product doesn't foam up so much that it's difficult to use. I once tried a cleanser that was supposed to have a similar effect, but it was as runny as foaming hand soap and inconvenient to use.
The American Beauty Luxurious Lather Creamy Cleanser has a nice clean scent. Although it is coconut based, it does not have an overwhelming fruit scent. It does smell a bit like coconut but the scent is mild.
This cleanser came in an average sized bottle - five fluid ounces (150 milliliters). The price was $12.50, which is a bit expensive when compared to drug store brands. However, many department store brands that are considered more upscale cost quite a bit more. If you want to try a department store product without going broke, the American Beauty line doesn't seem so expensive.
Overall, the American Beauty Luxurious Lather Creamy Cleanser is a great product. It cleanses well, lathers well, smells nice, and is moderately priced.
