We drink iced tea daily so I brew a pitcher at least twice a week.
Ever since we visited The Charleston Tea Plantation I've supported our locals by brewing and drinking only American Classic Tea. Right now we are working our way through a sampler box - hey, when you drink tea as often as we do you have to mix it up a bit. We especially like the Plantation Peach flavored tea: 'tea with the sun ripened fresh taste of a Southern Peach' so the tea bag packaging says. And it's true. Delicious. Really, all of the South Carolina grown American Classic Teas are great. My gripe is not with the tea but with the pyramid tea bags.
American Classic Pyramid Tea Bags - The Good
The pyramid tea bags are individually wrapped. As the box says, the individual flavor-protecting envelopes do, in fact, ensure great taste and freshness. American Classic Tea does a fine job with packaging. The signature blue color is unique and the yellow and orange text pops well against this blue backdrop. The logo font is a bit old-fashioned looking but suits their image well.
What pleases me the most about the packaging is that the woven mesh pyramid bag, the string and the tag are made from sustainable / renewable resources and are 100% biodegradable. Yes. Aside from the fresh and pure tea flavor, this is a reason for us to support this fine South Carolina product.
American Classic Pyramid Tea Bags - The Bad
What pleases me the least about American Classic pyramid tea bags is that they do not hold up. When you pour water over the tea bags they split open and tea leaves float around in your tea. This inconveniently adds another step to the iced tea-making process - straining. I use pyramid tea bags often. Many of my favorite herbal teas come in pyramid tea bags but I have never run into this problem with other brands. With all of the care and attention American Classic Tea puts into their tea making and tea packaging, I wish they would fix the problem with the pyramid tea bags.

Post a CommentI haven't tried pyramid bags, though I'm a big tea drinker. Heartfelt haiku!
I'm not a huge fan of tea, though I do enjoy it occasionally. I prefer it totally without added sweeteners or lighteners. Unsullied. The teas you mention sound tantalizing. Maybe I will try them out - though I suppose it is unlikely I will come across them...
We live an hour away from the plantation and it is one of my favorite places! Unfortunately, the American Classic that you buy in stores is a blend- it's not 100% American tea. You can only get the "real" stuff at the plantation itself. :(
Awesome review and haiku, Langley! Clever idea! :)
love it (=
Good review. =)
I like the honest review - and the haiku! :)
You are such a creative person. I loved the addition of the haiku. Yes, I hope they fix the problem with the tea bags for you!
This is great, from a tea lover too!
One of the COOLEST reviews ever! This tea lover thanks you for this piece. :)
