Product Review: Aveeno Active Naturals Fragrance Free Moisturizing Bar for Dry Skin
Does it Do What We Need at Such a Low Price?
Aveeno Active Naturals Fragrance Free Moisturizing Bar For Dry Skin contains a formidable sounding list of ingredients: Avena Sativa Kernel Flour (Oat), Water, Cetearyl Alcohol, Stearic Acid, Sodium Cocoyl Isethionate, Disodium Lauryl Sulfosuccinate, Glycerin, Hydrogenated Vegetable Oil, Titanium Dioxide, Citric Acid, Sodium Trideceth Sulfate, and Hydrogenated Castor Oil. Wow, that all sounds very scientific!
The most important ingredient seems to be oatmeal. Apparently, oatmeal is supposed to be excellent about absorbing dirt and oil while preventing dry skin. Since I have that annoying combination skin (dry in some areas, oily in others), I have to be careful with my cleansers. It is so easy to fall into the cycle of trying to remove the oil, over-drying the skin, causing overproduction of oil, and on and on. This soap was hopefully going to help me break that cycle.
When I opened the box, I found the aroma of the soap to be very mild and pleasing. It smells like oatmeal, but not in an obnoxious way. It does not lather extremely well, but that is not strictly necessary to me. As long as I can feel it on my skin when I start washing my face, I'm happy. While I did not feel any of the tingling sensations that can be felt with other cleansers, I did enjoy the way this soap was easy to spread across my face, and it rinsed clean with less effort than I have to use with other products. Once my face was rinsed and dry, I looked at it in the mirror. There was no make-up left on my face, it felt clean, and it did not have that tight, stretched feeling that it gets when I have over-dried it.
I have been washing my face with Aveeno Active Naturals Fragrance Free Moisturizing Bar For Dry Skin for several weeks, now. I am about to buy another bar, since I have used this one down to the very last sliver. I also have to commend Aveeno for making a bar of soap that does not dissolve too quickly. I wash my face twice a day, daily, and I am not one of those people who tries to use as little as possible.
This bar lasted much longer than I expected. I have had it for nearly two months with that much use. I used it at the sink and in the shower to wash my face, and since I extremely dry and cracked elbows, I would use some of this soap on them, and I saw a vast improvement. They are not perfectly healed, but I that would be asking a lot from a bar of soap! I would also like to mention that I was not using any moisturizer on my face or elbows, since I was trying this soap to see what results I would get from it, alone.
I am very pleased with the results of this soap. I not only have a cleanser that removes my make-up without irritating or drying my skin, I am having fewer problems with breakouts, too. My fine lines and forehead wrinkles actually seem less noticeable, as well, (although that could just be wishful thinking). My skin feels so soft, and my husband is often telling me that I smell "really good." I can gladly give it 5 out of 5 stars. I get the moisturizing, cleansing and money's worth that I like to have, so that is one excellent product for me.
As a side note, I would like to mention that I have found Aveeno Active Naturals Fragrance Free Moisturizing Bar For Dry Skin on the Walgreens.com website. There are a lot of specials to be had, such as the option to buy one and get one for half-price. Since Walgreens in my town is the only place that I have found it, if they stop stocking it, I will have to order it, this is a good thing to know. Luckily for me, the price is the same in the store where I live as it is on-line.
Once again, I would like to mention how much I am enjoying the benefits of this product. It does all the things that I ask, and it helps to keep my budget a little less strained. There is not much more that I can ask of a soap than that.
