Product Review: Avon Naturals Violet & Lychee Bath Collection

A Review of Avon Naturals' Violet & Lychee Bath & Body Products

Avon added a new scent to its Naturals line of bath and body products in the Campaign 2 brochure. Avon Naturals Violet & Lychee Bath Collection is the newest addition to one of Avon's favorite lines of bath and body products. Discover how well this product performs in the bath, complementary perfumes to wear with it and an additional use for one of the items in the collection.

What are Violet & Lychee?

There are different species of violet in the world; however, Avon Naturals chose the species viola odorata (sweet violet) for the violet & lychee bath collection. Viola odorata is commonly used in many perfumes and perfumed products. It is known to have a flirty floral scent that comes and goes teasing the senses. This attribute of the sweet violet makes it an ideal fragrance to add to a bath & body collection.

Lychee is a small pinkish-red fruit found primarily in China, South East Asia and Southern Asia. The fruit is also commercially cultivated in South Africa and the United States (Hawaii and Florida). The lychee fruit has a natural perfume to it, which is probably why Avon decided to use the fruit's essence for the Naturals Violet & Lychee bath collection.

How well does Violet & Lychee Perform?

I mainly purchase Avon Naturals bath products because they cleanse my skin without making it dry, not to mention they come pleasant scents. When I purchased this new addition to the line, I expected the same level of performance. As with many of the Naturals products, Violet & Lychee's scent hit me first. It had the arousing aroma of sweet violets with a fruity note to it that lychee added. It reminded me a little of the smell of Bath & Body Works' Moonlight Path Collection but with more of a floral note without the musky tones.

The shower gel thoroughly cleansed my skin without drying it out, so I was not disappointed there. The Body lotion was light and smoothed onto my skin evenly without leaving a greasy look or feel to my skin. My skin did have a soft, satiny sheen to it after application, which I loved. The body mist was the big shocker for me. I typically do not like the smell of the Naturals' body mists as they come off with an intense alcohol smell. This body mist did not; it actually smelled like the rest of the collection and served as a light perfume for my body.

Complementary Perfumes for Avon Naturals Violet & Lychee

When I choose any scent in a bath & body line of products I consider if the scent will complement any of the perfumes I currently own. I can't tell you every perfume this collection can be worn with but here are four of the perfumes I own that this collection serves as an complementary fragrance foundation for: Imari Seduction, Lacoste Touch of Pink, Stella McCartney Rose Absolute and one of Avon's classic fragrances Odyssey. This collection serves as a delicate foundation for Imari Seduction and Rose Absolute making it an ideal fragrance combination that can be worn on a date.

The Body Mist Is Great for the Bedroom

Sometimes I wear the body mist when I want to feel flirty during the day. Since I usually wear one of my perfumes with the collection I tend to skip the body mist altogether. However, I have found another great use for the mist. The violet & lychee body mist clings to fabrics leaving the flirty floral scent on clothing and bedding. I have found that spraying my bedding with the body mist not only leaves my sheets and comforter smelling great but it also perfumed my room for hours. So, if you don't like wearing body mists, this one does not have to go to waste. Spray your bedding with it and spray some of the mist around the room to make your bedroom smell good.

Overall, I feel Avon Naturals Violet & Lychee Bath Collection performs, on par with the other collections in the Naturals line of products. The Show gel gets the body clean without drying it out, the lotion moisturizes without a greasy feel and the body mist delicately scents the body as well as bedding. Additional items you may want to purchase with the collection are the canvas bag to hold your products and the violet-shaped bath sponge. This is a good collection to try for those who want to layer on a seductive scent for a special romantic occasion such as Valentine's Day. If you have tried the violet & lychee collection, let us know your experience, whether good or bad, in the comments.

The ingredients say the lychee, fruit but the rind is what holds the perfume, so I am guessing they used the rind.

I love gardening and love the photo of the rose of sharon flowers. I am curios to explore this flavor. Who knew you could use Lychees in perfume?
