Product Review: Avon Pomegranate & Mango Shimmering Body Lotion

I first smelled this scent through my cousin who had ordered the Avon pomegranate & mango body mist from her Avon representative. I loved the scent much more than I thought I would. It smelled so fresh and clean-- like fresh cut fruits.

I purchased the Shimmering Body Lotion from my sister. I was going to get the strawberry and guava, but I couldn't resist the smell of pomegranate & mango. It doesn't really smell like pomegranate and mango, though. To me, it smells like pink grapefruit, with a hint of pomegranate, and a touch of mint.

The first disappointment is that the shimmer is so minimal, you can barely see it. It has very fine silver shimmers that may not show up at all on fair skin. As the back label says, it has "subtle shimmer" and they are correct. They shouldn't have called it a shimmer lotion if the shimmer was going to be nearly nonexistent.

The second disappointment I had was that the product's smell wasn't strong enough for me. You can definitely smell it when you first put it on, but after a short while, it diminishes and you can't really smell it at all unless you put your nose right on your arm.

The one thing I did like was that it was a great moisturizer. It kept my skin moisturized for hours, and it didn't leave behind any greasy residue, which is a plus sign for most people. I, myself, don't mind a little oil-but this was not oily.

What I ended up doing is adding other fragrances to the product to make it stronger and fruitier. I added orange, peach, and cherry fragrance oil to the lotion, shook it up, and it indeed it smelled more like pomegranate and mango. Not only that, but the shimmer became more visible!

Overall, I would recommend this product. But mostly to those who have medium to dark skin. The shimmer is subtle, and it may not show up on light skin. You can purchase this product online at: youravon.com/chastideehudson. It is $3.99 for 8.4 oz.
