Product Review: Baby Einstein

Becky D
I would like to recommend a couple Baby Einstein products to all the new parents out there. Baby Einstein is know for making toys that encourage babies to explore and learn.

The Kids II Baby Einstein Play Gym was a worthwhile investment. It's one of the few toys my son actually likes to play with. He'll spend anywhere from 20 minutes to an hour playing with it. He loves the two birds that are attached because they squeak and really grab his attention. The star on the top that lights up and plays music makes him smile every time. The five songs are all classical music and do not get annoying after hearing them many times. The music and lights can either be set on continuous or motion mode which is a handy feature so that it's not wasting batteries if it's not being used. It has a mirror, plastic book, duck and cardinal which squeak, ladybug rattle, and circular rattle. The attached rings allow you to adjust the height and placement of each toy so they're easy for baby to reach. It's expandable - you can even add your own toys to it.

I like it because it's machine washable and rolls right up for travel. However, the mat is considerably smaller than some of its competitors. The picture of the rabbit seems like a waste of space when it could have been replaced by another toy. My son tends to roll off the pillow but it is removable so we just don't use it anymore. I recommend you wait for this item to go on sale because while it's a good product I don't think it's worth the price.

A better product by Baby Einstein is the Discover and Play Block Set.

These blocks are fun, educational, and durable. All of the moms in our playgroup have wonderful things to say about them.

Babies are intrigued by them and quickly figure out what to do with the blocks. The bright colors quickly attract baby's eye. They are the perfect size for babies to hold with both hands.

There is a variety of textures and images on each block. The green block vibrates when you pull the frog's leg. The yellow one quacks in a way that makes my daughter giggle. The name for the color of each block is embroidered on each one.

My baby loves to knock the blocks down when I stack them in a tower for her. They're soft enough that it's not a problem if they hit her when they fall.

I have heard a couple people say that they've had some decorations on the blocks fall off but I've never had that problem even though my baby has been playing with them everyday for months now.

They work great for teething as my baby will chew on the different textures with her gums. I would recommend these blocks because they are a great educational toy that really grows with your child.
