Product Review: BabyLegs

Frivolous Expense or Useful Tool for Infants and Toddlers?

Kelly Herdrich
I purchased my first pair of BabyLegs for my daughter shortly after she turned two years old. A friend had purchased and raved about them, so I felt confident that they would meet our needs. I was looking for something to keep my toddler's legs warm during the cold winter months in England, as well as something for her to wear around the house while we were in the early stages of naked potty training. Would BabyLegs end up being a frivolous expense, or would they end up being an essential part of our winter wardrobe and a potty training necessity?

What are BabyLegs?

BabyLegs are baby leg warmers. According to their website, the company was founded by Nicole Donnelly out of her diaper bag and has now expanded to a successful business. BabyLegs are now also sold in some stores and through the BabyLegs website and other online retailers. BabyLegs are made in the US and China, and they also have a line of organic leg warmers. BabyLegs come in a variety of designs, prints, patterns, and colors. Their website also gives examples of different and creative ways that people have used their BabyLegs. BabyLegs cost approximately $12, depending on where you purchase from.

Benefits of BabyLegs

BabyLegs are incredibly cute. The patterns and prints are cute and parents can select BabyLegs that match their children's clothes, shoes, or Halloween costumes. Not only are they cute, but since the 80s are making a comeback, they are fashionable, too!

BabyLegs are definitely an ingenious and useful idea for toddlers. They kept my daughter's legs warm during diaper changes, during naked potty training time, and during outings where she just had to wear a dress even though there was snow on the ground. Some parents even use them as arm warmers for their toddlers. I've also used them on my younger daughter, and found that they really did keep her legs covered up when her pants hiked up while I was carrying her, and they also kept her knees safe when she was learning to crawl.

BabyLegs are also well designed. They have enough of a cuff at the tops and bottoms to help them stay put once put on. They come in long sizes for tall toddlers, too. I have been washing my BabyLegs on the gentle cycle with like colors and they are holding up well.

Drawbacks of BabyLegs

I did feel that BabyLegs were a little pricey for one pair, so I waited for websites to have them on sale or bulk discount. I managed to buy 4 pairs for the price of 3 from the BabyLegs website last fall, and that made the price much more reasonable.

The only other drawback that I have found is that my daughter does have skinny little legs. So occasionally they will slide down a bit and need to be pulled back up. However, she's now going through a stage where she likes the scrunched down look. So, she will often do this on purpose.

Conclusion

All in all, I did find BabyLegs to be a good investment. We've certainly gotten our money's worth out of every pair. They really do serve a purpose for little ones, instead of being the frivolous expense I worried about. Cute and utilitarian, I couldn't be more pleased with BabyLegs, and highly recommend them to other parents of toddlers and infants!

I have 2 girls as well - an almost 3 year old and an almost 18 month old. I have seen these on other kids, and thought they would be great for all the things you mentioned! I would love to have some someday... Thanks for the review from someone who has used them!

If I'd been smart I'd have linked the word friend to Jennifer White's page...she's the friend who recommended them! At least I can mention it here for those interested!

Awesome review! Babylegs were awesome during our potty learning stage. I also love them for the sling for my little one. Her pants often ride up and that keeps her legs warm.
