Product Review of Beyond the Zone 24/7 Freez'N'Hold Hair Spray
Has Competition, so How Does it Measure Up?
Packaged in a purple metal bottle with an aerosol spray, this product is easy enough to find on the shelf. The words "Frozen Stiff", which appear on the front of the bottle, are written in a font resembling icicles. You have to admire that kind of sense of humor!
The info on the bottle tells us that this is "ultimate hold hair spray", and "freezes in body and shine", while providing "easy comb-out when and if you want". At $5.29 with my Sally Beauty Club member discount, I knew it was worth a shot.
My short, spiky hair is easy to style, but using the right hold product is essential. This product has definitely lived up to its claims, and then some. I hold up a section of hair, spray a quick burst onto the root area, then move around to other parts of my hair I'd like to lift. This product dries very quickly. Once the spikes are where I want them, I spray this product into my hands, rub my palms together, then mess up the rest of my hair and smooth my bangs.
Not only does this provide hold all day, even through humidity and light rain, I also experience a scent that smells nothing like hairspray. This spray smells of grapefruit, and is very pleasant. The spray comes out in a very fine mist that is very easy to control.
As far as the claim of comb-out being easy, I agree. Even if I've used a bit more spray than usual for whatever reason, I find a hairbrush goes right through my hair with little resistance. When it comes times to wash the product out of my hair, I get a lot of it out through rinsing, but one shampoo is required to remove all the product. It comes out with very little scrubbing.
Don't need a strong hold? This will work you for as well. This spray is very customizable. Short, strategically-placed bursts while the bottle is held 12-24" from the hair will provide flexible hold that doesn't feel stiff or sticky. You'll also get all the benefit of the shine properties this spray offers.
Fantastic hold, no flaking, pleasant scent, and a decent price tag will have me purchasing this product again. I will however, remain perplexed about the missing "e" from the word "Freez" in the title.
