Sizes
Standard BIC lighters come in a full size and a mini size. According to BIC's website, the full size lighters contain enough fuel for up to 3000 lights.
Styles
BIC lighters come in a variety of colors and styles. There are special edition lighters with hip designs and colors that would be considered "cool" by many. Unfortunately, the special edition lighters can usually only be bought as singles and not in packs.
Reliability
Without wind, the BIC produces a flame on the first try very easily. Some cheap lighters need 2 flicks before they actually light, but you can always depend on the BIC to produce if there is no wind. With wind, these lighters do not perform as well as more expensive ones would.
Taste
The BIC lighters impart no foul taste or smell. Certain lighters have an undesirable taste or smell which can be experienced while smoking a cigarette.
Uses
BIC lighters are commonly used to light cigarettes, cigars, and virtually anything. I have tried to use BIC lighters for cigars and even to light a hookah coal, but prefer a hotter lighter for those uses.
Popularity
BIC lighters can be found at gas stations and convenient stores everywhere. Everyone who purchases a BIC lighter can expect it to work perfectly until it is empty or lost. BIC lighters have even been mentioned on musician Lil Wayne's album, Tha Carter III. In the song A Milli, Wayne raps, "My name ain't BIC but I keep that flame" referencing the lighters.
Cost
There might be cheaper lighters than BIC at the gas station, but they will not be as reliable as BIC. Most people purchase single BIC lighters from the gas station, but 5 packs can be purchased from grocery stores drastically reducing the price of each lighter.
With the longevity and reliability of BIC, I can't understand why anyone would buy another disposable lighter. The different styles and references in pop culture make BIC lighters stylish and fashionable. If you are a cigarette smoker or use a lighter all the time, this is the product you should settle on. As it is written on the lighter, flick your BIC!
