Recently I was surfing the web and came across a web site for a gourmet coffee club called Boca Java. How does Boca Java gourmet coffee compare to Folgers? I've been mainly a Folgers coffee drinker for several years but recently I took Boca Java Gourmet coffee for a test drive so to speak. I joined their gourmet coffee club to try out their coffee. As an avid coffee drinker I wanted to report what I thought about it.
Boca Java does have a huge selection of gourmet coffee, tea and now hot cocoa. I've only tried their coffee. I normally like breakfast blends and dark French Roast coffees and haven't tried many flavored coffees. I did discover though that I like vanilla flavorings in coffee recently.
Boca Java's breakfast blend called Boca Sunrise was an excellent way to wake up. I liked it second best out of the flavors I tried by them. I also tried Ocean Drive flavor but I wasn't too impressed by it. Neither was I too fond of Palm Beach Passion. Those two flavors were not worth to me the $6.45 for 8 oz of coffee. Although the home delivery of coffee was a bonus and convenient.
I did try one flavored coffee by Boca Java and it surprised me. It was the one I actually liked the most by them. It was called, "Surfing Safari," and it was a delicious blend of sweet vanilla, rich caramel, and exotic kahlua. It was the kahlua flavor that made the difference. Although the caramel and vanilla flavoring were also present and part of the delicious blend of flavors. It can be purchased from Boca Java for $6.75 for an 8 oz package of either ground or whole bean coffee.
It was fun to try the gourmet coffee and even though I am an avid coffee drinker, Folgers is fine with me overall. I would like to try more flavored coffees by Boca Java and give their tea and hot cocoa a chance. The "Surfing Safari" and "Boca Sunrise" gourmet coffees may be good for occasional treats but I'll stick with Folgers for my everyday pick me ups.

Post a CommentFor anyone who sees this, think carefully before you jump in with Boca Java. Firstly their coffee is horrible - one of the bags I received smelled like formaldehyde and tased that way too!
When I canceled my account, I received an email back with a confirmation number. I rightly assumed that my cancellation had been received. Two weeks later I received an email that they were shipping me more coffee. I called and the rude person I spoke with hung up on me. When I called back the next day, of course, the rep I spoke with said that I had cancelled the order too late and that I wouldn't receive a refund of my money.
They gave me a 'store credit' even though I told them that I would never, under any circumstances buy their coffee again and I wanted the money returned to my bank account. They still refused and have continued to refuse each of my request for the money to be returned.

Regarding their customer service: it's terrible. Another thing, they enroll you in a "Columbia House" like club where they automatically ship you coffee at full price unless you cancel your membership. It's pathetic. Their coffee is great but their business model is tacky to say the least. I will no longer shop their as well. Also, I've talked to a few people who share the same feelings based on customer service issues.
I joined Boca Java for a trial membership. The offer was for four bags (1/2 pound each) of coffee for $9. You then had to cancel your account or else continue your membership and pay the full price monthly. Well, after signing-up I went to the website to select my delivery options. I selected once-per-week thinking they were sending 1 bag per week.
I received my trial coffee on Monday. Tuesday morning I check my e-mail and see that Boca Java is sending me another shipment of 4 1/2 lb. bags and has charged my bank account $35.
So I called Boca Java and was told that I could cancel my account but they cannot cancel an order in progress. I explained the situation and how it was obviously an error and that I didn't mean to order more coffee. Needless to say the customer service rep was very unhelpful so I asked to speak to a manager. The manager was even more unhelpful and told me to dispute the charge with my bank and hung-up on me.
I disputed the charge with my bank and they
Great review. I'm a big fan of Boca Java coffee. They have a seasonal blend called "Winter Wonderland" that I simply LOVE. And, as an added bonus, Boca Java is the only coffee I've found that does not upset my stomach.
Great review~Yum!!! Thanks for the info on this coffee!!
Sounds yummy...but dangerous...I'm fighting a gourmet coffee addiction already...buying online would be WAY too easy!
