Product Review: BodyGlove Snap-On Glove Case for Blackberry Torch 9800

As a longtime fan of the BlackBerry® line of smart phones, I have always sought to keep my devices protected to the fullest extent possible. Over the years, I've experienced my fair share of accidental phone droppings and, of course, the occasional plunge into a bathtub full of piping hot water (or maybe that's just me). Either way, protecting your phone from bumps, nicks and scratches is an essential part of owning a smart phone in today's rapidly-changing world of handheld technology.

If you happen to own the recently released BlackBerry® Torch 9800 model, consider investing in the BodyGlove® Snap-On case. Take it from me, this case puts the competition to shame. As a previous owner of the hard shell Otterbox® case for the Torch 9800, I have to say I have been much happier with the performance of the BodyGlove case. While both cases feature the durable hard shell material, the BodyGlove case is wrapped in an extra layer of the brand's one-of-a-kind textured "glove" material that is "easy to grip and protects your phone from scratches," according to the company's official site. In your hand, the case material feels like a textured rubber material and is, just as advertised, easily gripped for superior handheld quality.

However, the true magic of the BodyGlove mobile cases lie within their all-in-one clip systems. Upon purchasing the Torch Otterbox® hard shell case, I was disappointed to discover that it did not come outfitted with a belt clip. As an on-the-go journalist and public relations practitioner, I find it extremely convenient to simply clip my phone to my belt, particularly when I am conversing with someone via my hands-free Bluetooth® headset. Unfortunately, the Otterbox® did not deliver in this particular category.

Fortunately, the Torch 9800 BodyGlove Snap-On case comes outfitted with the company's signature all-in-one clip system, which allows for multiple case profiles. After opening the package, and clipping the screen guard onto the Torch's slide out/up screen, you will notice that the glove case designed for the main body of the phone features a removable knob on the back. The belt clip, packaged separately, will clip instantly onto this knob and is capable of rotating 360 degrees for your convenience.

Additionally, and personally my favorite feature of the case's all-in-one system, the belt clip features a built-in, flip-out, adjustable kickstand, designed to allow the phone to be propped up at multiple angles and multiple levels. Watching YouTube or Hulu videos on your phone, horizontally, will never be the same again. Just pop out your kickstand, prop up your phone, and press play! This is also a great feature to utilize in combination with your alarm clock. Once you've tapped the clock icon on your home screen, just flip your phone horizontally for a larger clock view, pop out your kickstand, and you've got a bedside alarm clock ready to go!

And last but certainly not least, BodyGlove decided to cater to everyone's personal preferences by including a flat-back plug which can be used to transform the phone into a regular flat-back case, similar to the design of the Otterbox® case. The BodyGlove knob is removable. Just pop it off, snap in the flat-back plug, and you've got a regular case with a smooth, textured back. Want to revert to the belt clip? Pop out the plug, pop in the knob, snap on your belt clip and your good to go. And don't forget about your kickstand option!

So if you've just recently purchased the BlackBerry® Torch 9800 model and are looking for a way to keep it protected, of if you're simply tired of the case you already have, consider investing in the BodyGlove® Snap-On case.
