In the summertime, I really hate being bit by misquotes and horseflies because the bites flare up and become big red hives. Sometimes the bites itch like crazy and the itching last for 24 hours straight. However, I found a gel that has now prevents insect bites I do get from being outside from flaring up, becoming red and itchy. The gel is called Boiron Bitecare Gel and it is a homeopathic medicine. It works naturally to relieve insect bite discomforts.
The Boiron Bitecare Gel comes in a 1.5-ounce squeezable tube. The gel does squeeze out quickly so do not squeeze it to much when you go to use it. I did and it was a mess. The natural healing ingredients in this clear cool thick healing gel are Echinacea, calendula, sodium hydroxide, purifies water, carbomer, water and alcohol. These are the natural ingredients that help relief the itching, swelling, redness and even stinging of an insect bite naturally.
Before I apply the gel to my insect bites, I cleanse the bites with rubbing alcohol. Then I take a cotton swab and squeeze a little bit of the gel onto it. After I take the cotton swab, and rub the soothing gel into my insect bites. The gel is not oily or greasy and does absorb well into the bites. However, sometimes the gel stings for a few seconds when I first apply it. I will say the stinging is worth the few seconds because the gel prevents the bite from becoming infected and inflamed. I usually apply the gel to the bites at least 2 times per day and when the bites are itchy I apply the gel 4 times per day until the itching goes away.
Now I have only used this gel on mosquitoes and horsefly bites so I could not tell you how it works on stings. However, I am assuming it would be very soothing to beestings. I would definitely recommend this soothing insect bite gel to anyone looking for a natural affordable way to relieve insect bites and stings. I do hope those of you who try this gel on your insect bites and stings can find some relief from them.
