I have a bathtub that you can only fill about four inches. It doesn't even cover the tops of my feet when I bathe, but I've put up with it for about ten years now. There was no way I would replace the bathtub, and there was no way I was willing to purchase a hot tub for the porch. Therefore, I decided to do some hunting on Google for some way to block the overflow drain so I could take a proper bath after all these years.
I came across a website http://www.bedbathstore.com/bobafordeba.html that had Bottomless Bath Overflow Drain Cover by Slip-X Solutions and it was only about $5. I didn't hold much faith into this kind of idea, but it read really well, and I only saw one negative review on the product and it was about how it slipped around. I wasn't too worried about that.
Preparing for its arrival, I cleaned my bathtub big time so I wouldn't have to be worried about it slipping around, or not sticking.
When the Bottomless Bath overflow drain cover came, I was excited. It claims it adds anywhere from 1 to 3 inches of water. I was concerned because modern bathtubs have a drain control handle that can stick out. I thought it might be pointing out too far, and prevent it from covering the overflow drain properly.
I placed the Bottomless Bath on and pressed hard to make sure each suction cup was well in place and began to fill the bathtub. After a while, it reached the Bottomless Bath and I noticed some did seep into the holder, not a lot but some. I allowed the bath to keep filling as I watched it go higher then it ever had. I now had a bathtub that was up over my toes, and even made me float! I was in heaven. The Bottomless Bath only filled a bit but not enough that the water was flowing down the overflow drain.
There is another way around purchasing this product though, and that is heavy-duty duck tape over the overflow slot. Duck tape is waterproof and will hold for ages, just be sure to use Goo gone when you clean it up to put on another piece. You can also purchase this and put the duck tape around it if you want to make an even more secure fit.
Bottomless Bath claims it can be put into regular laundry in the washing machine, to remove any mold that may be upon it. There really shouldn't be any though as it says it's mildew resistant.
I rate Bottomless Bath the overflow drain cover a 9 out of 10 stars.
