Product Review: Bowflex Fit Watch 10S Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch

Monitoring your heart rate during your workouts is a great way to make sure that you are exercising at the right intensity to get the results you want from your workout. The heart rate monitors on the equipment at the gym are not always accurate and putting a monitor around your chest is another step between you and the gym. However, the Bowflex Fit Watch 10S Strapless Heart Rate Monitor Watch is a handy product that will give you an accurate heart rate reading from a device that you strap on just like a watch.

The heart rate monitor looks just like a digital watch. It comes in pink and black and is light enough that I barely notice when it is on. To find your heart rate, you just need to put two fingers from the opposite hand on the sensors on the device and hold for a few seconds. It will record your average and maximum heart rate during your workout. The monitor also indicates if you are within your target zone so you know quickly if you need to increase or decrease the intensity of your exercise. There is an alarm that will beep if you go above or below your target zone so that you do not need to constantly be monitoring the watch.

The monitor has some other handy features as well. It has a calorie counter, calendar, timer, and stopwatch. I find the timer to be useful when I am running or walking outside. While being able to count calories burned would be great, I do not feel that this monitor can do it accurately. I think it underestimates the amount burned in comparison to the readout from the treadmill and numbers given from calculators on the internet. That being said, you can still use the number of calories burned to compare one workout to another. I like to try to beat the number I burned the day before.

The monitor is water-resistant so you do not need to worry about it getting sweaty. However, I would not feel comfortable swimming with it on.

Overall, I am pleased with this monitor for measuring heart rate but not as a calorie counter. For this purpose, you might be better off with one that straps around your chest. The step up for the product was simple and it only took about a half hour for me to learn how it works and understand all the things it can do.
