Product Review: Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist

Teresa Wilson
The first time that I smelled Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist was at a restaurant in the town where I live. One of my favorite servers was wearing it. She smelled delicious with a sort of light and flowery scent. I HAD to know the name of what she was wearing because I loved the scent so much that I wanted to buy some for myself.

The scent of Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist is very fresh and slightly sweet without being annoying or overpowering. Plus, since it is a body mist, it is made with alcohol so it is also refreshing. The front of the bottle calls it "instant refreshment," a statement I completely agree with. It is perfect for use during long hot summer days.

Whenever I wear Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist in public, I constantly have people asking me what perfume I am wearing. Evidently they like the scent just as much as I did the first time I smelled it!

I have tried other Hawaiian Ginger scented products made by different companies but none of them smell the same or as good as Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist.

To use Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist, spray your body after you've showered for a great fresh feeling to start your day. Or you can mist yourself after you're already hot and sweaty for a little of that "instant refreshment." You just mist your arms and the back of your neck and a quick misting to your clothes and you smell delicious and feel a bit cooler.

Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist is sold in two different sizes, either a two or an eight ounce bottle. You can buy the eight ounce bottle for around $8.00 or the two ounce bottle for around $3.00. The two ounce bottle is the perfect size to carry in your purse or car for a quick "pick-me-up" while the eight ounce bottle is perfect for home use. As with any alcohol-based product, it is flammable until it is dry.

The ingredients list for Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist is Alcohol Denat., Water, Fragrance, Propylene Glycol, Hedychium Coronarium Root Extract, Diazolidinyl Urea, Methylparaen, Propylparaben, FD&C Red 4, FD&C Yellow 5, Ext. D&C Violet 2. Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist is made by Coty.

If you don't like the Hawaiian Ginger scent, Calgon has other body mist scents to choose from. Other scents available are Tahitian Orchard, Turquoise Seas, Morning Glory, and Perfect Bliss.

Calgon also sells their body mist scents in tubes of either Body Lotion or Bath Gel. The Hawaiian Ginger body lotion and bath gel smell the same as the body mist of course. You can purchase the Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist, Body Lotion and Bath Gel either individually or together as a set along with a bath pouf for a great gift. After Christmas there are some stores that will sell the Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist, Body Lotion and Bath Gel sets for half price because they only carry them at Christmas so it is considered a seasonal item. I have found Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist for sale at stores such as Wal-Mart, Rite Aid, Target and K-Mart.

I highly recommend Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist to anyone who likes a light, fresh, flowery scent that is neither overpowering nor expensive. Calgon Hawaiian Ginger Body Mist is also a great gift idea!

Hawaiian Ginger has always been my signature scent. I've been wearing it since I was a teenager. GOOD NEWS! Hawaiian Ginger has not been discontinued. While it's true that you will no longer find it in Walgreens, Duane Reade or CVS outside of the Christmas holiday season, it is still available at many online outlets including takemeaway.com, which is Calgon's official site. When you click on "Shop Now", it will take you to Calgon's teebop.com, which I suppose is Calgon's online distributor? I had fears that Calgon discontinued HG as it was becoming increasingly more difficult to find. I don't think it has been yet as it is still listed as one of the fragrances on Calgon's site, but I won't be surprised if Calgon makes that decision. Sales of the product must be startlingly low but only because no one can find it! Whenever I wear it, people say to me, "What are you wearing? That smells so good!" ...but I'll never tell. :)

I am very upset that this product has been discontinued. It was just the right cost for such a great product and I was always having people tell me how great I smelled. Calgon is making the biggest mistake. I will never buy any other product from Calgon because if they don't know a good thing when they have it Im not going to help them profit.

They discontinued Hawaiian Ginger??? How could they? I have worn only that for 9 years. It's not a rut!! It's just that good. Calgon is making a big mistake.
