While I still make a point of changing my son's diapers very often, this cream has made diaper rashes few and far between. When one of my boys suffers a breakout, this cream soothes and helps heal it in a fraction of the time the other creams did. The smell makes it pleasant and calming to a cranky toddler and it makes me happy, too! My youngest son has not had to go to the doctor for a yeast infection since I started to use California Baby® Calming™ Diaper Rash Cream on a regular basis. For him, I use it at almost every diaper change to help prevent rashes and infections. For my older son, I use it when I see signs of rash or if he has an upset tummy with the resulting issues down below!
The Pros - Positive aspects of California Baby® Calming™ Diaper Rash Cream
Environmentally Friendly
This cream is made using organic and sustainably grown ingredients. It is also made from pure lanolin and not chemical based oils or fish oils. This cream is made from food grade ingredients so is safe for your baby!
Antibacterial and anti-fungal
Yes! California Baby Calming Diaper Rash Cream is both anti-bacterial and anti-fungal. This is a great benefit as far as I am concerned as it helps to deal with some of the causes of diaper rash, preventing them rather than only treating the aftermath.
Texture and scent
The cream itself is smooth and non greasy. It is not sticky or smelly like some creams I have tried. The aromatherapy scents are pleasant and calming. These scents include French Lavender which also helps to heal.
Mild and healing/ multi-use
The fact that California Baby Diaper Rash Cream uses no chemicals makes it mild and safe for an infant's skin. It creates a barrier between their skin and the chemicals that make up disposable diapers. It also creates a water proof barrier between your baby's skin and the urine, etc that are the cause of diaper rash! This cream treats diaper rash, heals and soothes the pain of the rash and also helps to prevent the rash in the first place. The anti-bacterial and anti-fungal properties of the cream can help to prevent yeast infections.
The Cons - Negative aspects of California Baby® Calming™ Diaper Rash Cream
The Price
If you are looking for a cheap diaper rash cream then this is not the cream for you. California Baby Diaper Rash Cream costs about 2 -3 times what creams like Desitin or A&D cost. When you compare it to other environmentally friendly and organic creams it is comparable in price. A 2.9 ounce tube of California Baby Diaper Rash Cream will cost you $9.49 on Diapers.com or $11.49 on the California Baby Website. For me, the price is worth it when you take into consideration the benefits. But, like I said, if you are just looking for cheap, you will need to look elsewhere. Personally, I would rather spend a little more and have it work well, then spend less and have to buy another product when the first one does not work.
Availability
Going to your local Walmart to get California Baby Diaper Rash Cream will not happen. These products are only available in higher end grocery stores, health food stores, specialty stores or on line. In my area, I cannot find this cream in any stores at all. I order my cream from Diapers.com and it is delivered to my door. But, I have a feeling that these products will eventually be available in more places.
Basically, California Baby® Calming™ Diaper Rash Cream is a great product. If you want a diaper rash cream that is going to work fast to heal your baby's skin, help to prevent a rash in the first place and be environmentally friendly, then this is the product for you.
