Product Review: Canon EOS 400D/Rebel XTI Digital Camera

After my recent purchase of a 42 inch plasma TV I decided that I neeed a new digital camera in order to take photos and show them off on my new gadget. On researching the digital camera market and with a budget of $900, I selected the Canon EOS 400D/REBEL XTI DIGITAL CAMERA, which cost me $785. My reason for selecting this particular digital camera was it excellent build quality, looks, weight, many features and most importantly, because it is so user-friendly. As a technophobe who does not know how to re-wire a kettle this was one of the main factors I needed when buying a camera.

This camera is not only for people who take pictures for a hobby it is also graded to use by a professional. The auto setter really helped me to use this camera immediately and the flash is awesome. The camera has many features including a SLR (single-lens reflex), 10.1-Megapixel resolution and the kit also containes the 18-55mm EF-S UMS lens. Great, I just had to learn what all that meant. I did not have to wait long as the camera is so easy to use I am now taking almost professinal shots of anything that moves.

The camera stores the images on very inexpensive Compact Flash memory cards and is powered by a rechargeable battery pack in addition to the JPEG it can record images in raw format. Listen to me....I understand technology. The lens has an automatic focusing and the entire package is so user-friendly, I can even use it. The camera and lens come in one box so just attach one to the other, easy. You have to insert the battery and the CF memory card, attach the supplied shoulder strap and voila....you are ready to go.

I snapped away at anything that moved for the first two days and I found that the JPEG pictures are excellent in color, with great saturation and balance. The camera is very quiet and light and the battery should be able to produce 360 shots if you use the flash on some of them and 500 shots if you don't use the flash. I am delighted with the Canon Digital Rebel XTI and lens kit, well priced for what you buy, excellent image quality and I would recommend it to a friend.
