What exactly is Clinique's Touch Base for Eyes?
The Touch Base for Eyes product is a light cream eye makeup, almost like a foundation, that you wear on your eyelids, either alone or under eye shadow. If you use concealer around the eye area as part of your makeup routine, you can use the Touch Base for Eyes product over the concealer. This makeup comes in a small compact. This product comes in six colors: Canvas Light, Canvas, Up-Lighting, Buff-Lighting, Petal Shimmer, and Nude Rose. If you use eye shadow regularly in your makeup routine, you can wear this product under the eye shadow. Using this product under eye shadow makes thecolor last longer and blend better, as well as adding a slight sparkle. If you're going to use this product under eye shadow, it's best to choose the product shade that closest matches your skin tone (in my case, it's Canvas Light).
If you use the Touch Base for Eyes product by itself, without adding eye shadow, the color is fairly subtle, especially in Canvas Light. I've found the product looks quite pretty on its own, and adds a little sparkle to the eye area without looking like you're wearing too much makeup. Also, if your eyes tend to get red and puffy, this product will help hide the redness without being too dramatic.
Since this is a cream product, you will want to make sure that you close the compact after each use. If you don't properly close the compact, the product will dry out and become unusable.
How do you apply and remove Clinique's Touch Base for Eyes?
According to Clinique.com, "use ring finger to apply colour from lash line to brow, blend gently...Remove with eye makeup solvent."
In spite of the recommendation to remove with eye makeup solvent, I've found that the Touch Base for Eyes product comes of fairly easily with soap and water, or using regular facial cleanser. The product application and removal process take just about a minute each. I apply with my ring finger, give the product a minute to "set", and then apply eye shadow. At the end of the day, I remove the product with my normal cleansing routine (I use Clinique's Liquid Facial Soap and Mild Clarifying Lotion, followed by the Dramatically Different Moisturizing Gel).
How much does Clinque's Touch Base for Eyes cost, and where can I purchase it?
The Touch Base for Eyes product costs $14. It can be purchased through Clinique's website, at Clinique.com, through any retailer that sells Clinique products, such as Dillard's or Macy's, or through other cosmetics websites, such as Sephora.com.
