The Colorsilk by Revlon is an older product, with no bells and whistles. However it is usually 2.99 at any store you purchase hair color from. I usually get mine at Target or Wal-Mart. The price was the first reason I started using Colorsilk to begin with, however I continued because I liked the shine and the rich color that I received.
My hair is unusually thick and it also goes to past my shoulder blades which of course is a trial when coloring my hair. However what I have done in the past and currently is get 3 boxes of Colorsilk in a mix of colors and combine to my liking. This allows me to have enough hair color and create the exact shade I want for my hair. Due to the multiple amount of shades this also allows me the ability to try many different combinations. I have yet to have one time during my exploring of different shades that my hair has come out brassy or purple which I have found with other color treatments. I specifically always color my hair a shade of red, and the major concern for anyone coloring their hair red is that it will go orange and I have not ever experienced that either.
Another great thing about this product is that it has never dried out my hair, actually the opposite applies. My hair is always shiny and much more moisturized after a coloring. I also find that although this is a cheap product the color seems to last long and be brighter more vibrant than any other hair color I have used in the past. With the cheap prices it also allows me to never have the embarrassing root issues because I can afford to color my hair every 4 weeks without fail.
The only downside to this product maybe the flimsy plastic gloves that they provide. However since you can purchase your own for pennies it has never kept me from continually purchasing this product. This is a great product to use when you want to start coloring your hair at home. Instructions are easy to follow and the price is perfect.

Post a CommentColorsilk is the only red shades that don't fade after 2 shampoos (for me at least)
Wow! Interesting article, personal experience, and product review all rolled into on! The whole piece flowed rather nicely together, for a strong beginning and an excellent finish! Thanks for Sharing!
I tried colorsilk once and it burnt the hell out of my hair. but then again most things burn the hell out of my hair. I think everyone's hair reacts different to different products so at least this works for some people. good work on the review.
I like the colorsilk line too! I have colored my hair for years and used to have it done professionally--at a pretty price of $65 plus a tip. Colorsilk has my color choices, is pretty gentle, and easy on the budget!
