Product Review: Dawn Power Dissolver Pot and Dish Cleaner

S. M. Bendock
If you have not yet tried Dawn Power Dissolver, you have no idea how much time you could be saving yourself. Dawn Power Dissolver is a spray-on cleaning product that promises "No Scrubbing!" even for greasy, burnt dishes.

Dawn Power Dissolver is recommended for use on dishes, pots and pans, grills, stoves and ovens. The makers of Dawn Power Dissolver advise consumers against using it on certain surfaces (listed on the back of the product). As with most products, if you are unsure about using it on a certain item, it is best to test it on a small, hidden place.

I have found that Dawn Power Dissolver works well on normal kitchen surfaces and all of the dishes I have tried. If you have dishes that usually require special care or delicate washing, it may be best not to use Dawn Power Dissolver on those items.

Dawn Power Dissolver is very simple to use. You just spray the mess with Dawn Power Dissolver - but don't add water. The instructions recommend that you let the mess sit for 10 to 15 minutes. If it is a bad mess, you should probably give it a little more time, while light messes may be done sooner.

After giving Dawn Power Dissolver time to dissolve the stain, simply wash as normal. Dishes treated with Dawn Power Dissolver can go right into the dish washer without rinsing/ washing, if that is how you normally clean them.

I can't say I quite agree with the "No Scrubbing!" claim, but Dawn Power Dissolver can definitely save time and effort on hard-to-clean items. Some messes do take more than one cycle of apply, wait, and wash. It is great to be able to just spray stubborn messes with a little Dawn Power Dissolver and come back a few minutes later to find the spots much easier to remove.

The real test for me was what Dawn Power Dissolver will remove. Have you ever accidentally burnt a pot and found that the outside bottom never comes clean again? I have gotten those marks off with Dawn Power Dissolver. It especially impressed me that those were not fresh stains - the burn was old and the pot had been through the dishwasher numerous times.

Also, Dawn Power Dissolver works very well on baking pans. Besides removing baked-on messes, like cheesy lasagna, Dawn Power Dissolver makes it easy to get rid of baked-on grease that accumulates when pans need to be greased to prevent baked goods from sticking.

I am very pleased with the performance of Dawn Power Dissolver. I have recommended it to friends and family, and all of my friends and family who have tried it agree that it works very well.

I do not have a dishwasher, so the scrubbing is up to me. Love to cook and bake but with a torn rotater cuff of right shoulder and past surgery on the right hand, the scrubbing of certain cooked on foods put me in a lot of pain to clean up, so I just quit cooking so much. Then last week saw this product at the store, thought ok, it cost more but will try it.
I don't care what it cost, I am not cooking what I like and enjoying it, the pans soak while I eat and by the time I am fished, wala, I could wipe the pans out with a paper towel.
All I can say is thanks for this product which has helped me so much and to enjoy cooking again.

This stuff works miracles! I Sprayed a metal basement utility sink down with it; a sink that is full of dried layers of paint, dirt, grime, fabric dyes that have built up for 20 years at the very least and no chemical or magical concoction could ever clean it. I sprayed it down with Dawn dissolve and let it sit over night and the next morning the sink had literally shed it's inner skin and was sitting in the bottom of the sink. Little bits were left clinging to the sides, but were easily peeled away. I tossed the paint and grime skin in the bin and rinsed the sink out with water. I never touched a scrubbing brush and the sink looks brand new. It's a real shame it's being pulled from the shelves, but it is indeed a heafty investment, but well worth it if used wisely.

I was buying this a Kroger's and they did away with it. They said like the other poster said it cost way too much and people wasn't buying it. I love it though.

Dollar General carried it and then discontinued it. The manager said it cost too much and people were not buying it. They have a larger bottle of their version it works pretty well but not as good as Dawn Power Dissolve.

This stuff is just great. It cleans baked on grease, dirty sneakers, dirty picnic coolers, it even cleaned the ink off the inside of my dryer . The local Supermarket in my home town of West Seneca NY said that is was no longer available!!! Hope that's not true!! This is a wonderful cleaner.
