Product Review: The De-FIB-ulator Hand Held Lie Detector

Manda Spring
We have all had those instances where we wanted to know desperately whether or not someone was lying to us. Well, it just so happens that I got the Aroa hand held lie detector called the De-FIB-ulator. How well does it work? Well, that's exactly what I intend to tell you.

The De-FIB-ulator Hand Held Lie Detector: Overview

This small little device can fit in the palm of your hand and it very light in weight. I tried it in my class and on my husband. I can say this, the accuracy is pretty good. I gave specific instructions to all those I tested. First I would ask very obvious questions and then when I gave a nod I would then begin asking a series of questions where I wanted them to lie twice and then tell the truth twice. This pattern of lie/truth was different with each subject, like sometimes I asked them to lie three times tell the truth for four, but the important thing was that it was on command and they all knew it just before I turned it on. Now, the test subjects had no idea the questions that would be asked so the shock value was present in the voice each and every time as it would be for a real 'testee'.

I started out asking simple, direct, yes or no questions like eye color, hair color, age, etc. When I was sure that the lie detector had picked up on the normal tone of the specimens I then began asking questions that would pose a little bit of shock as if I really needed to use it on a person to find out certain information. Even though I knew and the tested person knew when they would be lying and telling the truth so that I could accurately record how many times it was right and how many times it was wrong, the questions were the key to nervousness in the voice patterns and it proved to be un-hide-able in almost every case.

Example: I asked a teenage student, "have you ever snuck out with friends while grounded?" Although they were supposed to lie and they knew it ahead of time the nervous tone spiked through and registered even though she seemed to be well composed about her answer.

The De-FIB-ulator Hand Held Lie Detector: How to Use

One of the best features of this handy little lie detector is the fact that you can even use it over the phone. Yep, that's right. Regardless of what type of phone, cell phone, or cordless home phone, you can plug it into the earphone jack of the handset and see if the person on the other end is lying to you when you ask them questions.

The De-FIB-ulator is very comprehensive and comes with a little handbook where you can see what each level means and how it will look on your screen. The easy to read screen displays a face that transforms to nine different levels to show you exactly how the test subject is feeling ending with the face growing horns and a long nose if there is a lie detected.

The nine levels of truth and lie that this lie detector picks up on easily are defined as follows:

Level One- Truth

Level Two- Trying to outsmart you

Level Three- Excitement

Level Four- The subject is not sure how to answer

Level Five- Highly excited over the question....anxiety

Level Six- Avoidance

Level Seven- Extreme anxiety/ excitement

Level Eight- Inaccuracy in the answer

Level Nine- Lie

The De-FIB-ulator Hand Held Lie Detector: Conclusion

Okay, it is time for the end results of this product review concerning the De-FIB-ulator hand held lie detector.

It was very easy to use and easy to understand how to use. As for the accuracy of this device my research and experiments showed that it has an over 90% accuracy rate when several tests were performed on various test subjects ranging in age from elementary school young, to teenage and yes I even tested my husband to find out if he could outsmart the device. On two people one question each was registered inaccurately.

In all, this is a very cool item and I am sure many people will want to purchase it. It is very inexpensive and you can order it through this link: http://www.sci-edge.me.com/_blog/

I agree that they are not a 100% accurate but the type of lie detector (voice stress analyser) is still widely used inside the courtrooms. It has replaced the polygraph for the most part.

Sounds like a fun party game but lie detectors have been totally debunked for more serious purposes. Great article.
