Product Review: DeWalt DC759KA Heavy Duty 1/2" 18V Cordless Compact Drill/Driver Kit

Terry Edwards
Working around the house like I do, I am constantly using power tools. Recently, my old Milwaukee drill went out on me and I needed to find a new one. I went shopping at one of the bigger home supply retail stores and began my search for a replacement. After spending a considerable amount of time looking at all the various brands I chose the DeWalt DC759KA Heavy Duty 1/2" 18V Cordless Drill/Driver Kit. There are several reasons why I chose this particular model of power drill.

The main reason I purchased the DeWalt cordless drill was due to its quality name and its many features. It has just what I needed.

- Power to perform any job with its 450 in-lbs. of torque

- Two speed variable motor that operates from 0-1500 RPM

- A keyless chuck that makes gripping drill bits easy

- It's cordless and has a long battery life

- It's lightweight (5 lbs) and very compact for what it provides, which is what I was looking for

Using the DeWalt drill in building a set of book shelves in our family room was a breeze with this drill. It easily drove screws through the wood and into the wall without bogging down. What surprised me the most was how efficient it was with a hole saw. It cut 2 inch holes through studs with ease. Although the DeWalt comes in at a price of $199.99, it gives you everything you need in a power drill.

The DeWalt DC759KA drill includes not only the drill, but also:

- Not one but two 18V batteries with a 1 hour charging unit. You can also purchase a 15 minute charger separately if you wish.

- A handy carrying case to store everything in

- A double sided screwdriver bit

In talking to the salesman I found out that DeWalt has been making power tools since 1924. I had no idea they have been around that long. In using this drill I can see why. They produce a quality product that people want.

I really like how easy it is to use the keyless chuck. It grips my drill bits without having to try and turn the head with a lot of force. Just a simple twist and it does the rest. The grip is designed to prevent slipping and fits in your hand nicely. And since it is lightweight I wasn't getting tired in using it.

All in all I am completely satisfied with this drill. So, if you are looking for a cordless drill that will give you quality and performance for years to come, the DeWalt DC759KA Heavy Duty 1/2" 18V Cordless Compact Drill/Driver Kit makes for a good choice.
