Packaging
I purchased the Esencia by Samy Hydrating Shampoo with the scents of white lotus, barley and nettle. It comes in a 12 ounce brown bottle with orange print. The lid is like a large ball that screws off. I usually prefer lids that are flip top, so that you don't have to worry about them falling out of your slippery hands in the shower.
Performance
Esencia by Samy in white lotus has a mild scent to it. It is fresh and clean smelling. The lather is decent, but I often have to add extra water to my hair while washing it in order to make the lather spread throughout my skull and hair. It does make my hair feel clean. On the bottle of Esencia, it says this hydrating shampoo replenishes moisture and restores manageability. My hair does feel soft after washing with it, even before I add conditioner. The consistency that the shampoo comes out of the bottle is nice and thick, not too watery. It is clear in color with a slight yellow or gold tint to it. It does leave a slight fragrance in your hair which lasts throughout the good part of day.
Ingredients
This product is advertised as being 95.8% natural with certified organic ingredients, as listed on the bottle. Esencia by Samy has purified water as the first ingredient, which means it is mostly made of water. Also listed on the bottle is that it is Sulfate and Paraben free, phthalate free, no propylene glycol, no artificial colors, no animal testing, and made with natural plant extracts. Several of the other ingredients on the Esencia shampoo are certified organic by one of 2 different agencies.
Overall I would say that I like this product. It has a nice fresh scent and good consistency. Although I do wish it lathered more, it does get my hair clean with no leftover residue. I like the product packaging as it looks different from other products on the shelf. Esencia by Samy is priding itself in being natural and organic which is great for the environment. I also give them props for not testing on animals. I think the product is priced a bit high, which other products working just as well that are priced cheaper. On a scale of 1-5 stars, I would give it 4.

Post a CommentHi,
In refrence to the packaging statement, you described the lid as being a screw off lid.
I have found out (via video) you can lift the lid and product can be dispensed out through the top.
A great design but no clear instructions.
I bought this shampoo and did not pay a full price of 7.99. I bought it for less than $2. I don't like the screw ball top either, its keep falling off. Should use a common top. I don't see the point of it. Exlamation point looks is very unique though. I love the shines its gave me.
the lid pop open just pull it up
Buy this online for 4.99 like I do. Get 2 at a time. Reason is when you use a no sulfate shampoo you must use more of it to lather up. This product is similar to expensive WEN shampoo. I had a Liquid Keratin smoothing treatment so I must use no sulfates including soaps to preserve the no frizz smoother hair.
DUH!! You guys who can't pop the top are the screw balls!!
How can so many people be so dense! The ball top pops up!!! There is a small hole in the top, which you will see if you look. But, forget looking, and just pull on it! I've read at least 5 reviews by women who loved this product, but hated the screw-off ball top! I know I tend to have more common sense than the average person, but come on!!! You're making women look bad! As for the products -- I absolutely love them! Got the greatest deal at Kroger -- buy one at $7.99, get one free, AND there was a rebate on the bottle for $7.99, so I basically got the shampoo and conditioner for FREE!! Sweet!! I bought 3 of each (only one rebate per household, however). I'm just bummed I might have to pay full price when my stash runs out. Oh well, it will be totally worth it. And, for those who talk about how it doesn't lather as much as cheap shampoo -- that's because it doesn't have all of those chemicals in it. Americans are used to havin
I am a natural, organic girl. So naturally, I was drawn to the natural, organic ingredients in Esencia's products. I like the mousse, and I also like the conditioner and shampoo, in terms of what they do for my curly hair.
BUT...the shampoo/conditioner packaging is upsetting. Specifically, the heavy plastic ball lid bothers me. Every time I use the products in the shower, I am reminded of the large carbon/landfill footprint it leaves. Even if it is recyclable, it is a huge waste of limited resources and a disproportionate source of pollution. Ounce-for-ounce of packaging, it outweighs most other shampoos and conditioners several-fold because of that giant, dense ball of plastic on top.
It seems to me that Esencia's appeal to ecologically conscious people is out of sync with the very wasteful, petroleum-based packaging, which environmentalists like me are conditioned (pardon the pun) to avoid.
So, despite the nice smell and natural ingredients, and though it treats my tresses w
The bottle I had was a screw off lid only. I think I'd see a hole if there was one there.
This shampoo is great.. BUT fyi the lid IS NOT screw off! The lid pops up and a little hole is at the top of the ball and the shampo squirts out of that... This shampoo is great and it's as natural as you can get bascially.
love this stuff!
I'm glad you got to try this product for free if it was so expensive. Perhaps you will get lucky and find the Samy Esencia on sale somewhere. I like a good lather myself, and most people view that as a way to know your hair is getting clean. It is good to know that it cleans, even if it doesn't lather well.
