Product Review: Eureka Altima 12 Amp Vacuum

SE
After using the Shark Turbo Stick Vac for a while, a larger and more powerful vacuum became necessary. So I purchased the Eureka Altima 12 amp vacuum. I have been quite pleased with the size and power of this vacuum.

The Eureka Altima is what I consider a moderate size for a vacuum. The size turned out to be just right for me - the stick vacuum I had been using was too tiny, but I don't live in a large home that necessitates a monstrous vacuum.

This Eureka also does not use bags, which is a definite plus. There is a dust cup that is easily removed and emptied, and an allergen filter that is easily cleaned. The allergen filter is a nice plus - it is nice to know the dust you're picking up from the floor is probably not being thrown into the air you breathe.

The power of the Eureka Altima is great. It seems to be self propelled to a certain extent. It feels like you're guiding the vacuum, not pushing and pulling it. I don't like to vacuum as it is, so anything that makes it easier is a plus. This Eureka vacuum also picks up quite a bit from my carpets. Even when I vacuum once a week or so, the dust cup fills up a bit. The vacuum picks up fine dust and large crumbs quite well.

The attachments that come with the Eureka Altima are nice. The attachments are "normal" size, not small like the ones with my stick vacuum were. With this vacuum I am able to do my couch and baseboards without much trouble. Another great feature is the self cleaning duster. When you put it in its holder, and flip a switch, the vacuum actually cleans the duster. The duster is not attached to the vacuum, which makes it really easy to use.

The Eureka Altima vacuum also seems to be low maintenance. After a year, all I've ever had to do to it is empty the dust cup and clean the filter. It runs as well as it did when it was new, and the brushes don't usually get clogged with anything. The motor and belts seem to require no attention.

Overall, the Eureka Altima 12 amp vacuum is a great vacuum. It cleans carpets well, and is a good size for any average home. The attachments that come with it are useful too.

I have the yellow Eureka Altima 12 Amp upright vacuum. I was having some problems with it but went online to find the belt and how to change it. I also cleaned ALL the filters. It is working wonderful now. Most people it seems don't know how to take care of their vacuum and then get upset when it doesn't work right. It is the same with cars and all applicances. You need to keep the maintenace up on them which includes cleaning them and changing belts etc.

I hope this helps the people out there who are not satisfied with this model and I know there are quite a few. There is another on sale just like it by Eureka that is just a little updated with little handles and such and both have the Good Housekeeping seal of approval.

Find the other review page of the Eureka altima where over 60 people will tell you what a pos this machine is, constantly breaking down, clogging up, spitting dirt out the back and sides instead of sucking it up constant belt breakage. And all of this withing a few uses or a few months. DONT buy this crap, it should be recalled!!! Obviously this reviewer above either works for Eureka or has only had his pos for a week or so.
