Product Review: Five Oaks Wine

Amy Witthohn
Five Oaks wine, wow what a find. While browsing thought Rite-Aid yesterday, I noticed a sign 2 for 6 dollars Five Oaks wine, I thought thats a great deal, but I wonder what it taste like. I have not noticed a price like this since my Mad Dog days so I figured so what lets try it out, so I picked the Chardonnay California 2005. I went and paid my 3.00 and went home to try my new found bargain.

Now the description of the wine is that it is medium bodied with hints of pineapple, and citrus and also the aroma's of vanilla and toasted oak. This sounds wonderful and if it is as good as it sounds, I can potentially save a ton of money. I am a big wine drinker.

The recommendations for this type of wine is to have it with barbecues, Brie and camembert, Cajun, and Chicken.

So now for the taste, I opened the bottle and left it on the counter to breathe, then I got my wine glass, the aroma was strong I could smell it as soon as I opened the bottle, the smell that struck me first was vanilla. Now I'm not a big fan of Vanilla, but this smell was not strong it was pleasantly mild. Next I poured into my glass as I swirled it around, I was mesmerized by the beautiful hint of yellow in the clear liquid, Now to taste it, I took a small sip and held it in my mouth the vivid flavors of oak and citrus were apparent right off and the grapes had a sweeter taste than I thought they would. As I swallowed the wine, I waited for an aftertaste. The mild aftertaste was very pleasant and it was more oak than anything else.

So needless to say The wine was good, actually great for the price. After finishing the bottle later in the evening, hoping not to have a hangover the next day. I thought to myself, I will definitely be stocking up on this wine. This wine is also sold in Merlot, and other assorted flavors. The only place I have noticed it so far is Rite-Aid, but I'm sure that there are other markets that carry it.

I could not find a website for them but I did manage to find a customer service number on the back of the bottle. 1-877-994-4616

Definitely I would suggest giving this wine a try you will not be disappointed.

Just discovered Five Oaks Merlot. It is most excellent, and doesn't pound your taste receptors.

My daughter and I "found" this wine at Rite Aid and have been buying it for a few months now. I had seen it before but thought for that price, it must be awful. What a surprise!! We buy it all the time now because it is really good.

I also have been buying these five oaks wines for a few years. I am from Calif and retired here in Alabama. A fine taste of home..

I have been drinking the Five Oaks Merlot for quite a while now. I was told by the manager at my local Rite Aid that Five Oaks is a Rite Aid label, hence the great price and the fact that you can't find it anywhere else! :-)

At that price, it would make a good summer time wine, which you can mix with seltzer and fruit. Also good for cooking (things like sauce for chicken). Thanks for the recommendation.
