Product Review: the Floppy Seat

When my son turned six months old, he was sitting very well unsupported. I thought this would be the perfect time to switch him from his infant seat to the actual shopping cart seat at the grocery store. I had seen the Floppy Seat at our local Babies R Us store for approximately $40, and thought it was a great idea, so I went back to look at it once more, and bought it. I am so glad I did!

I would not classify myself as a germ-a-phobic, but having a baby definitely changes your perspective on certain things. Germs are one of them. Babies put absolutely everything in their mouths and while I'm not there preventing my son each and every time he places something in his mouth that very well could have a lot of germs on it, I figured I'd do what I could when purchasing this item. It places me at a bit of ease to know that he's cushioned with fabric that just came out of my laundry machine. This was especially comforting when he was a bit younger and would chew on the fabric of the Floppy Seat as we would shop for groceries, or go to the department store. Much better the fabric than the actual shopping cart handlebar.

The Floppy Seat is also a means of comfort for children. It provides padding that is surrounding them. There are loops on the front of the Floppy seat that you can attatch toys to so your child has something to play with while shopping. The loops are an added bonus when your child gets to be 12 months which is my son's age. He is very much into throwing things off the side of the shopping cart and then looking to see where they've fallen. If it's attatched to the loop, he can't get it off. So nice for me when I don't want to pick his toy up off the floor for the hundreth time.

This seat is extremely easy to attatch to any shopping cart. You place the Floppy Seat down on the shopping cart seat and there is a seatbelt secured on one side of the Floppy Seat that you loop between the bars at the back of the shopping cart seat and then pull through a hole in the opposite side of the Floppy. This seatbelt is thus secured to the shopping cart itself and then you buckle your child in. It has left plenty of room for my son to grow in, so I imagine we'll be using it well into his toddler years.

Shopping carts are not the only place you can use the Floppy Seat. It's also ideal for restaurant highchairs! And remember that it's machine washable and can be placed in the dryer so it's so easy to clean.
