Product Review - FoodSaver V2240 Advanced Design Vacuum Food Sealer

Jamie Cortez
Too often people think that throwing away food leftovers are just the way it supposed to be. But that is so untrue. Have you ever counted how much money you've wasted this year alone on leftovers? If you use a vacuum food sealer you don't have to waste the leftovers.

One excellent vacuum food sealer that can do its job very well is the FoodSsaver V2240 Advanced Design vacuum food sealer. Compared to its predecessor the FoodSaver V2240 is a lot easier to use. Just put the food in a plastic bag, put the open end of the bag in the sealer and press a button. That's it. You can then put the plastic bag in the refrigerator or freezer.

The CrushFree Instant Seal feature is also pretty neat. When you want to seal something delicate like potato chips leftovers you can seal it as usual and immediately stop the machine from sucking air before the chips are crushed.

One common complaint from vacuum food sealer users is that the bags can be costly. That's not true for this machine. If you think that the Foodsaver sealer bags are too expensive you can use the included plastic roll and make your own custom-sized bags. This will also eliminate the annoying "bag too big" or "bag too small" problems.

The Bad Side
Just like any other food sealer this one also wastes about an inch on the end of the plastic bag. That means the next time you reuse the bag you can only fit a smaller amount of food in it.

The second problem is that when sealing food that contains liquid like chicken with lots of juice the machine would also suck the liquid in. You need to put a paper towel at the end of the plastic bag for the machine to be able to vacuum-seal the plastic bag completely.

Conclusion
The FoodSaver V2240 is a basic vacuum food sealer that can does it job really well. Whether you're sealing chicken, fish, steak, bread, sausages or whatever else you have in your menu you can be sure that they will stay fresh longer when you vacuum-seal them using this machine. For $99 you really can't miss having this handy machine at home. And when you think about the money you'll save by not throwing the leftovers it becomes a no brainer to get this vacuum food sealer.
