Product Review: George Foreman G4 Grill

I had seen all the commercials and was ready to get my family eating healthier, so I asked my husband for the Foreman grill for Christmas. Not only did I get the one from my husband, but I also got a larger one from my in-laws. So, I kept the larger one, I have a family to feed after all.

And, to be perfectly honest with you now, I think the thing is going to end up in my yard sale this summer. Maybe it's because I have the one without the handy built in timer and buttons or maybe it's me, but it burned almost everything I cooked. The meat turned out dry and flat. So, I tried marinades, don't do that! The marinades burns into charcoal and lays like a burnt skin on the meat. It was bad.

The bottom tray is tilted and it comes with a drop tray, all designed to catch the fat that comes out of the meat while it cooks. Well, it sure catches the fat alright, and any bit of juice that might have been in the meat too. Because if the pressure that the machine exerts onto the meat, smashes any juice that might be in it.

I tried to use it as a Panini press that was a joke. Since everything is tilted and hinged, you have to use a utensil to hold the sandwich in there while it cooks, which is unfortunate because not I have my husband hooked on my Spicy Portobello Panini's.

So, I guess I am back to the oven and stove for dinners. With summer just around the corner a great barbeque is on our wish list, which is not say that all the George Foreman grills have the problems that I have had with mine, but surely there has got to be a better way.

So, my recommendation is: With all of the great technology coming out every year for kitchens, are they really an easier better way or are they just cluttering up our countertops and cabinets? So, for now we are enjoying our long days and cool nights in the backyard with the barbeque and some comfy patio chairs.
