Product Review: Gillette's Fusion Razor

Statsman
The Gillette Fusion razor features a 5 blade sytem for a smoother shave. It also features a unique precision trimmer blade on the upper back of the razor for trimming sideburns and shaving the hair under the nose. It is Gillette's latest foray into the $10 billion dollar a year global razor and blade market.

When I recieved my free Fusion razor in the mail I was using the Mach3Turbo razor. The Mach3 is also by Gillette, and it features a 3 blade system. I liked the Mach3Turbo because it gave me a smooth shave, so when I got the Fusion razor and saw that it featured 5 blades, I couldn't wait to try it out. And you know what? I like it way better than the Mach3Turbo.

The Fusion razor just glides over my face when I shave and gives me the smooethest shave I've ever had with a razor.

My biggest complaint with the Mach3Turbo was that I would sometimes nick myself when shaving with it, especially with a new blade, and draw blood. I've been using the Fusion for months now, and have yet to nick myself with it. It just glides over my face and never sinks in.

Another complaint I had with the Mach3Turbo was that it would sometimes leave stubble on my face. Unless I was extra careful and went over my face a few times, I would often end up with missed stubble, especially around the chin. With the Fusion that is never a problem. I guess the two extra blades on the Fusion just do the trick in removing all the stubble on my face as I shave.

The precision trimmer blade on the Fusion is also very handy for me because I like to grow my sideburns a little bit long. Which means I have to trim them almost daily. A job for which I would have to get out my old electric trimmer for. But with the Fusion I just turn the blade over and use precision trimmer already there and I'm done in seconds.

The Fusion razor is Gillette's answer to the Quattro. Schick's 4 blade razor. I have never used the Quattro but I'm grateful to Schick for making it because it forced Gillette to innovate and come up with the Fusion's 5 blade design. I wonder if Schick will now fire back with a 6 blade razor. Will the day come when I'm using a 10 blade razor or more? Where will it end?

For me it can end with the Fusion because it gives me the smoothest, nick free shave that I could ever ask for.

The Fusion Shaver makes me think of an SNL (or is it MADTV) episode, where the announcer discusses a 25+ blade razor that is so big, it's like a washboard! I cracked up when the guy tried to run this board over his face!
