I had seen Glamormom Nursing Tops advertised in magazines that I bought while I was pregnant and a friend of mine highly recommended them, she said that she wore hers every single day. They looked cute and when my mother-in-law asked if she could buy me a nursing bra, I requested these. I never really used bras much pre-pregnancy because I'm only an A cup, I opted for camisoles for supportive underclothes.
When they came in the mail
When I was 6 months pregnant I received them in the mail, a blue tank with lace at the bottom and a white one with lace at the bottom. Denying my abundant abdomen at the time, I decided to try them on regardless. They were tight (but so was everything else!) but comfortable. I liked the fabric and the long cut. They could even cover my whole pregnant belly they were so long. But they weren't designed as maternity tanks, so I decided not to stretch them out and put them away for the last trimester.
Hold up well in the wash
They have held up in the wash very well. Because they get doused in milk often, I have to wash them after every use and now, 11 months later, they are just as good as new.
Come in cute styles and colors
They come in soft subtle colors that I like, like Light Blue and White, as well as bolder colors such as Colorful Floral Pink and Ruby Red.
Come in different cup sizes
They are sized by cup sizes, ranging from A to G. I found them to maybe run a little small, but other than that the sizes are good.
Easy one handed opening, or don't close at all
The opening was up at the top and was easy to fasten or unfasten, even under an overshirt with a squirming hungry baby. I didn't like that in the way the flap was designed it has a hole through 2 layers of fabric and then one solid layer on the top, over the nipple. The outline of the hole shows through and creates a Bullseye right around the nipple! A hole in one layer is necessary to allow the baby access, but I'm not sure why the second hole is there, maybe to put a nursing pad in?
They support to suck in fat and post partum sag
They do a great job at supporting a saggy post partum belly and give a nice shape as an undershirt. I also love that they are in long lengths, so none of the aforementioned saggy belly shows when baby needs to nurse.
Wouldn't work for plus sized women
Unless a plus sized woman wanted to try the maternity/nursing combination, I do not think that they would work for a larger woman. I'm an average to thin build and I even had trouble getting into the tanks at first. This is beneficial for the previously mentioned support, but I think it would be frustrating for a plus sized woman to order them on line and then find that they were too constricting.
Cute styles
In looking at the website, glamormom.com, I see that they have more styles now than when I ordered. The dress would be very cute, as it is difficult to nurse discreetly in a dress. The long tanks would be too long for my taste. The maternity-nursing tanks I'll use as I plan to continue nursing my baby through my current pregnancy.
These work for me, but could be improved. I will buy more in the future.
